Carsharing? Commute to ST19 from ST16

A few posts under my belt
This is perhaps a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me with my commute to work (and/back). I'm new to Stafford, and I don't drive. Obviously I would contribute to petrol money.

I live in ST16 and would be happily picked up from either my place of residence or in Stafford town centre. I'll be working at a hospital in ST19. It's out in the sticks and near impossible to get to by public transport. Getting back is an even greater nightmare, as the last bus from the nearest bus stop is before 5pm.

I'm unsure if this post belong here, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Penkridge??? It doesn't have a hospital? If someone can put me right on that please do. Why move to Stafford if you have no means of getting to work?

It's a psychiatric hospital for adolescents in Wheaton Aston.
And yeah, good question. I was originally told that I'd be working on a different site (one much more accessible). If it doesn't work out, I'll be searching for jobs closer to where I live.

Try St.Georges. Lovely place work.

At the moment there doesn't appear to be any at St.Georges, but keep looking, I know of 1 that will be out soon.
And now that they've merged with County/Royal Stoke, there may well be opportunities at either of those hospitals, with better commuting available.

There is a bus service to Brewood which isn't too far away from Wheaton Aston and then you could get a taxi from there.

Also worth trying people who commute to Telford who may be able to help you.

@MrsJones_92 Ive just looked up the i54 bus and spotted Ivetsey Bank which is very close to where I think you’ll be working.

I bet one of your new colleagues will be able to help you out, I work out in the sticks and gave someone a lift who didn’t drive for ages.

Sadly, I think the 54 begins operating at 8:30, and I wouldn't make it to work on time :(
I'm hoping that I'll be able to rely on the kindness of strangers!

Just had a look and the first 54 leaves Stafford about 6.30 but I’m not sure if it will go by Ivetsey Bank - the nearest stop listed is Gailey - spread eagle I’m sure someone will pick you up from there, the road A5 is too dangerous to walk.

If you get the 54 at 06.23 there is an 877 that you can catch at Coven post office getting to Wheaton Aston at 07.36.

Looks like the last bus back is around 16.30 though.

Not for everyone, but ever thought about a moped? £150 gets you your CBT and then you can ride on l plates for 2 years.

Thank you, I've had a look online for a better picture. It seems you're right.

There is a Stafford-Wolverhampton bus - https://bustimes.org/services/877-stafford-church-eaton-brewood-wolverhampton - but it's no use for "working hours" from Stafford.

Thanks for the link :)

Unfortunately public transport ain't great round here :(

Yup - it's a pain in the butt! My fault for not doing my research properly before I came here, though! :(

Yeah, the trip back is gonna be the most difficult. :(

Can't see myself on one, to be honest, haha. The image of me on a moped to work just made me laugh, though! :D

I am going to, because why not? :zoidberg:

When i was two years younger than you are now, i had my longest cycle commute that i have had so far - c.7 miles each way from Oxford (oh... Oxford) to Kiddlington - 14 miles a day five times a week i was fit as f**k.

If mopeds are not 'you' then one supposes that bicycles are also not, but...

Now there are e-Bikes. Lots of them, with plenty of power and battery-life to get you there and back with ease.

Millennium Way to Haughton - entirely off-road -> pretty straight road from Haughton via Church Eaton to Wheaton Aston, what?

Worth a thought?

Memories, my first job when I left school was at Blaggs ironmongers in Hednesford, commuting by bike from Rugeley. Lovely in the summer, a bit bleak in the winter months.
