Examples of poor driving you have witnessed!

The pulling out was not an issue - plenty of space and time - but the noise from it, at a good 250 yards, completely swamped my radio.

To an extent it's a safety measure - you're not going to miss it when it's making so much noise.

To an extent being the key phrase here of course.

The cops have reported themselves over the wrong-way-up-the-motorway Subaru and caravan a few days ago - three deaths from that - after the driver's competence had been reported to them some time before....
I once rang 999 whilst I was a passenger in a van ,and witnessing a car passing us going southbound on the northbound Toll Rd . Operator spent ages asking me what make of car , all I knew was that it was a silver one, but they weren't happy with that. Needed to know make and model so that they could act on it .....what bloody difference did it make, it was a car going the wrong way facing oncoming traffic!

I've had some interesting conversations with officers in Stafford.

At the desk in Eastgate Street.
"There's (an event) going on in Bridge Street now - you might like to get somebody to attend."
"Where is Bridge Street?"
"If you pop outside and look round the corner, you can see it - the source of a lot of your weekend activity..?"

And, this time, on the phone to a sergeant, who I know actually lives in Stafford.
"If (he)'s not (there), then he'll almost certainly be in the Joiner's Arms."
"What's the Joiner's Arms?"
"It's a pub."
"Where is it?"
"Marston Road, opposite Chell's."
"What's Chell's?"
...

Today, out of the goodness of my heart, I stopped to let a chap on crutches cross the road, during the downpour this morning.

Eventually, I had to give up and just drive on, as it became clear that none of the oncoming drivers had any intention of joining in.

Was he trying to cross by Halfords where the lights weren't working? God, it must have been a nightmare. I've heard it caused chaos, right? ;)

Anyone seen these around Stafford? Are they trying to look like the police and isn't that illegal?

It is, if the blue patches are retro-reflective, not if they aren't.

That's my understanding, anyway.

Side reflectors should be amber, but you would probably get away with yellow - but not blue..

They will, no doubt, be regularly at the scene with coppers, I expect things might have been discussed, if there was an issue.

Yesterday I saw a plain white car that had 'Traffic Incident Support Unit' written on the sides & bonnet, but it litteraly looked like someone had used black electrical tape to make up the very off center & higgldy-piggldy words..... Strange.

Came across an accident on Friday lunchtime, a mk 4 golf had failed to make the turn at 449 lights into the estate opposite Castle golf course.

Not sure how the car finished up there but it was on the wrong side of the road and had hit a vehicle waiting for the lights.

To make matters worse the other vehicle was a Military police car full of Stafford’s finest out in their Sunday best. When I arrived some of their number were helpfully directing traffic. :stafford:

Fortunately there did not appear to be any injuries although that might have changed latter. :blah:
