Been put off ever going on holiday abroad again. Sons private airport transfer hasn't turned up. They rang the company and found it's F*ckin cancelled (without the decency to let them know) because of the Taxi strikes there!!! Aaaaaaargh!!!!!
With no taxis to jump into with the strike, had to sprint to get a Metro to cut it fine getting there. but I can now enjoy a cuppa knowing he has made it to check-in . Phew!!

( If anyone else has a private transfer booked anywhere, keep checking it's going to honour the booking as quite a few places have taxi strikes against Uber going on at the moment. Seems like sons private transfer firm are siding with the strikers and just not turning up)

What a pisser. Is the hotel not able to assist in some way?
They legged it to the metro in the end and made it to the airport just about in time. Then to top it all Ryanair tried saying they had only paid 2 x£80 hold bags instead of the 3 they'd actually paid for ,so took half hour to get that sorted  A sprint straight through from there through the airport process to the boarding gates and he's thankfully now sitting on the plane. What a nightmare end to the holiday!
(Hoping the bank in Worcester lets him get cash over the counter with his passport now, got hardly any english cash for food as he pays by card (which was nicked and cancelled ) everywhere....

I forecast me having a nice tootle down the motorway tonight with a wad of emergency cash :D

Glad I've only booked a week in Poole now so far this year, in my own car, no depending on other people, no hassle.....

So now there is a very much alive mouse under my tumble dryer.

Let's retrace the steps that brought us to this situation -

House: Should we get a cat?
Me: Absolutely not.
House: Why not?
Me: Because it will catch things and then kill them.

Outcome - House acquires a cat

House: Should we put in a cat flap?
Me: Absolutely not.
House: Why not?
Me: Because it will catch things, bring them into the house, and then kill them in the house.

Outcome - situation is fluid, but pretty feckin predictable

Stupid fecking cat.
We had one arrive in the kitchen after hubby brought it into the house in his chewed up gym bag. It disappeared behind the cooker, so I blocked up all escape routes with towels and bought a couple of humane traps from Pets at home. Put chocolate inside, mouse went in, doors closed trapping mouse inside, I went screaming down the garden with trap in hand and mouse sticking his nose out of the air holes . One happy choccie fed mousie mousie was released alive and well .

Still got the 2 traps if you need to lend one ....

I may have once read that if you catch a mouse you should try and release it as far away as possible as they may return. Or did I dream it.
Makes sense though, especially if he / she's being fed choccy.

Da da da dah da da dah.

Currently in Birmingham with friends waiting for the Strictly Live Show to begin.

We've just had a fab meal, a few bottles of wine, we're ready, the atmosphere is great.

Let the show begin.
I was at this show last night. @Carole is right, the atmosphere was fab u lous, the roar was deafening from the 8,000 crowd. Everything was spot on for a thoroughly amazing evening. The highlight for me was seeing Shirley dance. I know she has been world champ but apart from a twirl at the beginning on the tv show, I'd not seen her actually dance. My god, that woman cha cha charing down the dancefloor shows exactly why she is a champ.

Furthest I could get in my bare feet was the top of the back garden. Didn't have time to stick my shoes on when I suddenly heard the scrabbling noise coming from the kitchen as he was trying desperately to bite his way out. Don't know who was the most terrified, me or mousie. By the sounds of my screams....me

So you've taken your new friend for a walk down the garden, where are you taking him today? Odeon? Cannock Chase? town park? :)

A word of advice, don't move to a windmill in old Amsterdam.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Don't understand this putting the mouse out business. What's wrong with one of these?

When we had an invasion of mice in the shed (annoyingly attracted by the ex-neighbours food waste and nappies etc piled the other side of the fence) I had to regretably resort to buying poison boxes from the council with 2 different sorts of stuff which put them gently to sleep. Wouldn't have minded them making the shed their home so much if it wasn't right outside the back door. Everytime I opened the door, hundreds scurried under the shed. Opened the shed door once and what must have been the big daddy mouse just sat there looking at me as if to say "Yes? what do you want?" I was the one retreating haha.

I felt really guilty doing that, I even put spiders outside, but with so many swarming around it just had to be done.

It wasn't exactly a walk.....more of a muddy footed sprint, with the mouse catapulted out near the end as I slung the box into the heather.

Just you wait until Cersei, the Queen of the Mice hears about this. You'll need more than shoes then you see … :help:

Was trying to copy and paste a photo that I took of the super duper mouse trap....... what am I doing wrong???

Did control + C to copy and Control +V to paste as I usually do but isn't pasting (Windows 10 ...checked properties and all the boxes for shortcuts ,or whatever it is , are ticked)

Yet it will copy it onto an email :q:

Are you using your mouse correctly?
