Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

So you want to level the old cinema, Sheridan centre and I think you said something similar for the Guildhall.

Is this your answer to every building in Stafford? May as well make everything into a car park then.

We ain't leaving the Manics early!!!! Never have done and never will :)

Train back to Wolves and jump in a taxi or stay out if there's no train.

Whatever happened to the overnight train to Holyhead?
If your doing the Manics in May there might be quite a few of us for a taxi share from Wolves.

We had a music venue called Bingley Hall but that got stopped because it was 'too noisy'...

As for the old cinema the quote that stood out to me was '"They tried their best but they just didn't get the support"...

You aren't going to get support when the building was out of date, old fashioned and not-fit-for-purpose. I stopped visiting the old cinema years ago when the old owners wouldn't fix the heating. I really didn't want to watch films whilst sitting in my coat, hat and gloves.

The new cinema is much better. I hope people will be prepared to pay double the old cinema prices. If they are, then you might see the promised restaurants opening. We were told that the unit that fronts onto Bridge Street would be the prime site, yes really.

I would love to see the old cinema turned into a casino. It would be hilarious.

didn't realise the new cinema was open it just looks boarded up when I walk past.
The vacant unit on the corner into Bridge Street isn't part of the cinema. The cinema entrance is further along the river directly opposite Revolution

To be fair, I've been a little perplexed as to why it didn't look open whilst people said they were enjoying the new place. As I'm not a cinema goer, the perplexity soon leaves me after I've walked past the building so I'm with GNM67 on this one.

I haven't watched a film at the new cinema yet, however I've been into the foyer and had a beer. It's very nice. A welcome addition to Stafford. I hope something can be done with the old cinema. However, it's going to need someone with deep pockets.

Never seen more than a couple of people in here at once and usually it's empty.

Nothing wrong with footfall or location as Verso is always full.

It's the offering that's the problem. Businesses need to realise that they should either offer potential customers what they actually want or stop throwing good money after bad.

But no doubt this will all be blamed, by some, on how bad things are in Stafford rather than the lack of business sense by the owners.
