Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

Indeed they'll need to strip the plaster back in the affected area too, so a lot of work needed :(

Heard it was costing them 150 £ a day to have on site security too. Although now a wall has been put around , they may not need that anymore

Just seen a shop to let sign , put above the Carphone warehouse in town opposite Smith's, so looks like that's set to close soon. We didn't really need three in this town anyway, so hopefully something offering a bit of variety will take its place.

We could do with a Vape shop or a Barbers, possibly a Coffee Shop. Thankfully, at least it's too late for a pop up shop to steal the trade from those who pay the bills all year round.
I did hear that Pound Bakery were sniffing around Stafford area for a location, although I doubt that would be the place

Expect it to remain empty for a while at that price

Mammoth at Milford has closed and has moved into their Specialized store on Eastgate Street
Was talking to a bloke who works at the bike/cycle shop opposite the new mobility store near B&M and Aldi. He said they are planning to move in to the vacant Mammoth store at Milford.

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk

You do have to wonder about the logic of that move. If Mammoth have decided that the Milford location isn't viable/profitable for a bike shop, then why would another bike shop think it's a good idea to move into the same place? Or am I missing something?

That is a terrible location for a bike shop, the footfall would be better where he is. I get the rent is cheaper, but there's a reason for that.

I wonder if there's chance to capitalized on the fact that most people know there was a bike shop there - but might not have known it's moved. I always imagined it served people riding around on the chase pretty well.

I had to admit I didn't realise Mammoth and Specialized were the same company so it might just make more sense or them to have one shop.

Bike & ride fella told me it is all about what you offer customers, when I had said that Mammoth had told me about footfall. Seems odd one shop virtually swapping addresses, proof of the pudding! Of course Swynertons run a successful shop on the chase, that's at Birches Valley, which is mountain bike central, no comparison!

I think Mammoth and Specialized are different companies, but the Stafford franchises are owned by the same person?

Correct. Well Specialized certainly is a franchise, I think mammoth might be their own company (may be wrong).
I'm still staggered that "Run and Ride" have been there so long and still haven't put a frigging sign up telling the people of Stafford who they actually are....

The OH went last week to buy some trainers. Despite me telling him where it was he still had to use Google Maps as he couldn't find it.

Looked like the pop up shop at Greenwood’s old place was packing up tonight.i would bet they haven’t paid a single bill. I really dislike these shops who take trade away from those who pay their bills all year.

What are you basing this on?

Sorry, I stand corrected, they are still there for now. Whether they will still be there when the rates bill arrives is another matter, the rateable value is mad. In other news, the card shop opposite Clinton’s that leeches off the town at Christmas is going.
