Does anyone know if the post office are collecting from pillar boxes at the moment please?

I need to post a card to be delivered before Thursday but not sure whether it would just be left in the pillar box for a few days.

I think so. We've used pillar boxes a couple of times with no complaints, though it's hard to be certain they've been emptied on time. One thing we did notice once though as we walked past on a Tuesday (say) was that the "next collection" plate said "Wednesday".

Thanks. I think I'll take a wander to Smith's tomorrow and post it there just in case.

There does seem to have been a drift to only collect once at 'residential' boxes, and quite early at that.

'Mine' goes at 8:30am, the last time I looked.

Basically, the next collection is tomorrow now.

Woman 2 places in front of me in the queue to get into Sainsburys a bit ago. Chatting away to the two blokes behind her, no sense of 2 metres social distancing at all. Had a small child with her too. (She might not have been able leave her at home, I accept that).
Let said small child run round the shop as she merrily nattered to everyone she knew.
Overheard (by me) ''Oh, we're off to a picnic at the Millenium Green'', woman she was talking to gave her such a quizzical look, as if say you're not meant be doing that. Reply came back, ''It's ok, I have Prosecco!''
Fine love, you have Prosecco, so the social distancing dunna matter!

There was a sign on my local pillar box so I thought it was likely 'out of services'. On closer inspection someone had accidentally posted their debit card and the note was to the postman asking to call said persons mobile number.

Just had my swab test results through by email from Imperial College London/NHS ......negative so most likely not got it. :) (Says a negative result not 100% conclusive )

Original letter inviting me to take part in the test for research said that it may indicate if I've ever had it or not. But letter that came with testing kit said that it was testing whether you were infected at the time of testing. The questionaire that I had to do asked, amongst all the ailments that I had to tick since 2019, whether I though I may have previously been infected with it. It also asked if I would like to take part in further research , and that they were developing antibody test kits. So wondering if I may be invited to do one of those.
Willing to take part in any research , as long as it doesn't mean being cut open and parts taken away ...

Just wondering if any fellow nerds are into Bayesian Analysis?

"As of 8th April, there are around 1.4 million patients in Coronavirus [1] and there are around 7.7 billion people in the world [2]. So the infection rate is around 0.019%. Suppose a pharmaceutical company develops a test kit to test whether a person is infected with Coronavirus. Since the development is very rushed, the accuracy of this test kit is not perfect. There is a 2% chance of showing positive on a normal person and a 1% chance showing negative on an infected person. The question is if you take the test and it shows positive, what is the probability that you are infected?"

It's absolutely great that you've taken part in the tests, I wish I could volunteer to also.

If you download the Zoe Covid19 app you might get offered one. It's the same Imperial College research.

I don't think the app would help either me or the medical profession, this was my reply to a friend on fb who said she would use it, but she is able to self isolate, I'm not, so our experiences are very different...
