The last six months hasn't been too bad for me. When I had a proper job, 10% of the people were the worst aspect of it. These days, I generally am not involved with other people when actually doing anything. I do what I want, when I want, for who I want - in general.

The events from March on did, of course, pretty much reduce my income to zero, but I also spent bugger all - and had time and scope to do stuff that I wouldn't have been able to otherwise. It may also have considerably advanced a long-term plan that wasn't advancing much in "normal times".

My biggest 'problem' is the fear that I'll get added to a list that will cause me logistical issues.

As someone who hopes, one day, to be an 'elder', I would say that they are not always necessarily worthy of automatic extra respect - unless their extra experience has enabled them to behave in a manner that should engender such a response. This can often be the case, but it is not by any means an automatic process. Sometimes, they may have age-related issues that can form part of an excuse - usually, though, it's because they are just awkward or careless or self-important - or whatever.

You did what you should have done. :up:

I work in a place where no one even says good morning so it was tough to start with but I'm used to it now. I am somewhat worried how I will be once the dark nights and cold weather set in and I hear from no one for days and visiting friends is a risk :(

This though....

"I'm so ranty today, people are so stupid. If you have a reason not to wear a mask that is fine by me, but do not lie, don't tell me you're astmathic (when you aren't), it hurts your nose, it hurts your ears, it gives you spots (wtaf?, I know, just farking wear it), I can't breathe, it's too hot, I'm having flushes.... You have to wear it for between 10mins and a hour depending on how long it takes you to shop. I have to wear it for or 8hrs, nurses and Dr's have to wear it for even longer, theirs are propper masks that cut into their skin and leave marks, ours are cloth 'coverings', they don't hurt you, they are a small inconvenience to keep EVERYONE safe, get a god damn grip!!!!!

It's strange at home. I didn't stop working. The carer was furloughed.

For me the year has flown by, for the carer it's dragged. I can't believe it's nearly Christmas now, it's gone in the blink of an eye...

How about you furloughers? Did it drag for you? Is it still dragging now?

Not furloughed, but it’s both dragged and lightning fast. I remember thinking in August that it felt so long since the Tiger King era of lockdown, but also didn’t feel that long at all...

Absolutely - a large number of the "reasons" that people give for not wearing a mask would suggest that they shouldn't really be there anyway ( if the reasons are true) - they should be organising somebody to do it for them - it's not like it started yesterday.

Thanks. Didn't get furloughed thankfully, just wfh. It's very lonely tbh without the daily chats in the tea room and office with the lads. Having said that I have enjoyed little things like being able to get the washing done and on the line and being in for deliveries. Dog has enjoyed the best 6 months ever as well. I actually don't want to return to the office now despite the isolation of being at home!

I loved the face shield I was able to wear till a couple of weeks ago, I could see and hear what people were saying, they could see and hear me. No longer allowed where I work though.

I guess it depends on the setting. I was served food by someone wearing a face shield last week, and I'm not sure that was protecting me at all.

Face shields aren’t an alternative to cloth masks, no.

I believe the currently agreed thing is they protect the wearer from others but not vice versa.

I've an 'in' date of the 2nd November - i went 'out' on the 20-somethingth of March.

Ultimately it has been what it was.

In between, it has been many things, but mostly it has been trying.

I have not particularly enjoyed it, but i haven't hated it either.

I like people not coming near me, let's keep doing that.

At midday today the outside thermometer read 7C (that’s about 45F in old money.) It’s the third day of wind and rain !

The bulb in my tumble dryer broke.
I looked in the manual, it said not user replaceable and to call them. It's under warranty so I did, took them 2 weeks to find an appointment but they sent an engineer out. He says the bulb needs replacing, he doesn't have one so he'll source one and come back in a fortnight.

The job was literally 'My bulb has died', why come out without a bulb?
