It's great to go shopping in Stafford, what a lovely market town ...

prime location too, surprised it closed. the one at milford is always busy, then again there's not many options around there

Guess it's all about the dolla too, probably got a lot for selling up

Baffles me why we can't have nice things around town, I mean there's a 4th macy's going up on j13 by catch corner I believe
It's my understanding that the building is still an asset of Freddie Sandy, and may still become a Wimpy if the site becomes vacated.

Casa are merely just paying rent to them. Which is quite a substantial amount.

It was probably the best Wimpy site though, perhaps just a little on the large side.

They also had one near Home Bargains which later became the Bap Shop.

There was a brief, pre-Casa, period when the Hacienda operated as a Wimpy, though rather more palatial than the previous incarnation.

Note, picture is not in HD...

There was a plan to open a 'new' Wimpy, after Casa occupied that building, in the old PC Dreams shop across the road, but I don't think that ever came to fruition.

My mom used to work at that wimpy in the early 80s. I used to love going there.

Over the last few days I have purposely chosen to shop at the market rather than anywhere else and I've been impressed. I bought my meat from the butchers and fruit and veg from the stall next door. Excellent service and quality produce.

I remember going to the market with my nan as a child, over 30 years ago, it was such a bustling place then - its not now.

The managers of the market need to do a lot to make it more welcoming, however we can all help by supporting the market and shopping locally.

Wimpy was, and is, very expensive compared to McDonalds. You can mention the food quality but price and a massive advertising budget wins in the fast food market.
Wimpy (1934) is six years older than McDonalds (1940) but has dropped from over 500 British sites in the 1970s to 67 now, McDonalds franchisees having obviously been more successful.

I've been doing the same with the fruit and veg shop behind sports direct. I now make a special effort to walk to town each weekend to buy their produce. Not only am I saved the chore of debagging my fruit and veg from yards of polythene which is required with supermarket fruit and veg, I also find the varieties they stock have much more taste. It's a nice walk and it's lovely to support local as well!

*I'm aware its more expensive than lidl or aldi but quality food is important to my family so am happy to pay whatever really :p
