Stupid idea to do some home baking on Christmas Eve not gone as smoothly as they make it look on telly.
Glad I bought some brioche buns as backup , my first ever attempt at making my own bread rolls has resulted in a tray full of rock hard unrisen round ' things'

The homemade sausage& onion rolls , that took me all afternoon to make and ages clearing up the mess , actually came out ok though. First ever attempt at making Puff pastry came out more like my usual shortcrust pastry, but at least they were eatable...

Decided to stick to shop bought ready made stuff in future!

Say nothing and use them as dumplings in a day or two.

How heartening that residents of a village without a pub can find something worthwhile like that to do with their spare time.

Yes absolutely.
It’s very sad that some people think that a pub is the only way to be sociable, it totally lacks imagination.
When you don’t have a pub you find other ways to get together and in our village we do have so much fun.
Pre COVID, there was always some event taking place.

Anyway, it’s a misconception to assume we don’t have a pub.
We have several drinking establishments, but they are invitation only.
It’s partly central here in Bednall, but while we are having a good time, we still like to think about how we can help others. Quite a few communities do this, we’re not unique.

Anyway @Mudgie have a Happy Christmas and I hope that you find contentment, friendship and open pubs in 2021.

Had planned to get the electric carving knife on them, to crumb up for the birds. Just come down from the shower to find hubby has crunched his way through one of them. Reckoned they taste ok ( Not liking waste, he'll eat anything)
Chuck them in the blender/food processor and turn them into breadcrumbs *treacle tart beckons* Or bread sauce :barf: for tomorrow. Or croutons, or... I should stop now lol

I’m extremely proud of our village.
Over the last 5 weeks we had a little Christmas stall on my friends drive.
We made cakes, my friends made holly wreaths, Bednall calendars and Christmas cards.
We asked the village for gift items to sell. The quality of things arriving daily was wonderful.
People brought things to sell and people spent money.
All this unmanned, out daily with an honesty box we raised ££3644.46 for Katharine House Hospice.

This is on top of the request that the church warden made for donations to the food bank. On top of the donations of biscuits, chocolates and Christmas puddings the village donated £1383.50 in cash which was used to purchase approx 1200 meals (tinned meat, tinned potatoes and tinned vegetables, tinned fruit and custard.)

Here is the food from Bednall being donated to the food bank.

You really are 1 hell of a sarki twat, aren't you?
Not everyone wants to spend their every waking hour in a pub. Perhaps if you pulled your finger out your arse and looked up from your pint every once in a while, you'll see that some people actually care about others and are willing to spend their time helping make things just that little bit nicer for one another.

Aaaah still not got around to slinging them out for the birds, so might just do that . Thanks @Gadget  :D
Son bought his good blender back here with him to make his smoothies , so will come in useful for grinding my 'rocks' up . My cheapo blender probably wouldn't cope with them
