Beware buying from .co.uk websites

Not all will be uk based and you can be hit with doorstep taxes

Unless of course you voted Leave

I realised this the second after paying for a wine order from Italy today, which seems impossible to cancel.

I really shouldn't have ordered from Thompson and Morgan at the weekend!
Oooch. I nearly did the same, but ordered from Bargain seeds instead as I just didn't need that many seeds.

I did however, order more expensive seeds from amazon of a particular flower I wanted & couldn't buy on bargain seeds

If you spent £200 on an Italian wine website you could attract 12% or £24 customs duty. VAT at 20% is then applied to the total of £224, giving a VAT bill of £44.80. Once the courier has added its £11.50 admin fee, the UK consumer must pay £80.30 to the courier on the doorstep before it will hand over the item – adding around 40% to the price of the wine

I saw a couple of items on eBay, which were supposed to be 'located in Manchester' - for various reasons, I suspected that they might not be, but the £15 allowance still existed then, and they were well under that.

They would only deliver to an address on the Big Island, so I had them sent to @Colossal.

The packaging would suggest that they were actually posted well to the east of Great Yarmouth.

Amsterdam has many interesting 'items'

Great when you want seeds, but don't need the 250 or so that's in a normal garden centre packet

Useful site by the looks of it (but I would never buy from T&M anyway). Postal address for Bargain Seeds is March in Cambridgeshire but that doesn't necessarily mean much
