Isn't there similar on this forum now ?
I've logged on and seen "Survey Quick / You Have (1) Unread Message / Congratulations! / Today you have been chosen to participate in a survey. It will only take a minute and you could receive a fabulous prize" followed by dodgy looking comments suggesting it's all genuine.
I expect completion of the survey is followed by a message that an iPhone has been won and it will be sent as soon as bank account details are given to pay for the £1 postage and packing !

I've not had that message when I've logged on but anything asking to send your bank details is definitely going to be dodgy.

If you have any elderly/vulnerable friends or relatives, please keep an eye on them.

My 2nd cime busting episode today consisted of an older lady receiving a phone call asking her to buy £1000 worth of Gift Cards. She complied with everything they told her, including refusing to talk about the phone conversation to me.

The worrying thing is that 'they' booked & paid for a taxi to bring the lady to Sainsburys, and back home, where she would be told which safe place to leave them in.

Luckily I'm suspicious of EVERYONE, and managed to find out more info & involve the police.

She was a lovely lady, & truly believed she was doing the right thing, was adamant that she was going to buy the gift cards, they had told her she could get them from Sainsburys or the Post Office. She didn't want the police or family involved.

Please make any relatives aware that this is happening in Stafford. Very scary all round.
Recently I have had my debit card done! A £1.25 transaction in Kazakhstan or somewhere similar, then onto the bigger stuff after the coffee purchase was successful! My bank allowed 2 or 3 online purchases to go through before contacting me.
I called as soon as I received the message and all other purchases were blocked!
I checked my online statement and contacted one firm who had taken the payment. They were great! Said in their experience the bank and police would do next to nothing. The firm contacted the courier and managed to stop the delivery of a very good drill and other bits.
They sent me the delivery address and name of the delightful person who had nabbed my details....I contacted my bank who said they hadn't even started the fraud case. They didn't want to know any of the info I had gathered and told me the case would be complete in 45 days.
The firm received the goods back and instantly refunded me. Excellent service.
I have today received another credi/ refund from the same firm....a call tomorrow should hopefully rectify this. I really do not understand how they do it!? The crooks that is.....I haven't given my card details to anyone and rarely shop online.
I do wish these scammers would stop but I guess that's like asking the rain not to fall!
Happy snow day....Mrs M

About a year ago my dad (in his 70's) was also scammed, small amounts were taken out of his bank each time, he didn't notice for about 3 months, by that time around £500 had been taken. He buys a lot of stuu online, mostly from ebay and didn't notice the small amounts add up.

Went for a walk in the snow earlier today. The Isobel Trail was looking picturesque, you could almost forget that there is a tip & various industrial units just a few yards away!.

My brother had a call from his bank a few years ago, saying it had flagged up his card had been used in Moscow at the same time as he'd made a purchase in Greyfriars Carpets in Stafford. Luckily the cloned card was used in Russia within minutes of his own purchase here in UK .

Mine got cloned and used in pound land in Birmingham, while I was in Lincoln. They used the mag stripe to make the purchases, I didn't even know you still could! Pretty sure mine was cloned at holmcroft co-op cashpoint.

If dip fails 3 times it will fall back to swipe. Thats if the chip isnt readable. For testing purposes I just inserted the card the wrong way round 3 times.

The bank stopped the second transaction but the first went through. Apparently a mag strip payment puts your card on watch, so a second at the same place immediately afterwards triggered security. I asked if I could disable the strip but was told no, it has to be on there.

I've now dropped most settings via the app, but you can't disable the card as such.

I didn't know this could be done! ☹

Just had a nightmare drive to Exeter in darkness and heavy rain. I'm thinking they don't bother much with cat's eyes on B roads anymore.

I'm guessing you made it there and back safely? Rain here today, but not enough to get rid of the snow & ice.

The carer has been plotting all day..... Seems he's about to embark on several D. I. Y projects after I asked what he 'actually did all day, while I'm at work'? .....Hes got the tape measure out, lists of wood, websites, and ideas.

I'm not sure if I should be thankful or worried.

It’s our wedding anniversary today, so we decided that we’d make an occasion of it since there's not much else going on.

We decided to go to the pub for a lock in. *

Got dressed up, make up, skirt, high heels, the works, (that’s me, not the husband).
I’d quite forgotten how to do it, it’s been so long.

Ordered lovely food. Opened a bottle of champagne.

*Lock in, ..... this is our room at the bottom of the garden.

Anyway, turns out that the electrics kept tripping, so it was freezing.
And husband got a bit cross because he couldn’t fix it.

Lasted 5 minutes then came inside and put our pyjamas on.

Husband now watching the football which is what he wanted to do really, and I’m cracking on with the jigsaw.

Rock n Roll.
