In other news, I'm super proud of Spawn3. She took part in a webinar with the West Mids chamber of commerce and answered some questions and gave a little talk to 40 people, via, Zoom. She made them laugh, she made them cry and had them all thinking she was brilliant by the end. They couldn't believe she's only 14, a couple were disappointed as they wanted to offer her a placement or a job lol It was all about how businesses and training providers can better serve and include young people with S.E.N.D. Some sad statistics are, only 6% of these young people ever make it into meaningful and paid employment. Also sadly it seems the average life expectancy for people living with special needs is only 62 years. This was a bit of a shock to me.
Anyway she gave them all a lot of insights as to how they can all implement changes or bear in mind when they look to including S.E.N.D people. She was very emphatic that should they be providing a work experience placement they should make the effort even if it's difficult to make it meaningful. Young people on work experience want to actually experience the work, not be stuck making tea, tucked away doing the filing or washing up or tidying the stock room etc.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Some kind of new fangled flying device, with blades but not wings, and a big shiny spotlight jobby.
Ah.

I only asked because I was up at the sorting office earlier and I heard what sounded like a helicopter, only to discover it was the loudest, illest sounding goods locomotive I've ever heard.

It's been a lovely day where I am.

You would think it was late spring, if you'd just woken up from a coma.

I may have had a bit of sunstroke - I've just cut the grass.

It's always worth doing it 'early' with a cylinder mower.

I filled the oil tank this morning and both activities can now be moved onto the Forget About It For a While list.

The tank was getting a bit low and, if the promised return of the winter occurs, then i would have been monitoring it daily...

I'm just perusing oven gloves on the internet (important things first) then I'm on it!!
I'm a fan of this sort.

There are various brands of the same thing - not impervious to hot liquids or jets of steam, but much 'nicer' to use than the mitten type, as long as you bear the limitations in mind.

There are genuine Nomex ones around - they are a bit more expensive and a lot 'stiffer' in use.

Got home from work today, and promptly fell asleep in front of the TV, woke up with a start to the horror of daylight, panicked that I'd slept through the alarm and should be at work by 7am, and it must be way past 7am as it was bright outside.

Realised it was 4pm & I've already finished my day at work.... Phew!

Easily done, but hey what a reward when leaping out of your pit only to realise it's your day off .....
