Who's had a rubbish day?

My Aunt died this morning, she was diagnosed with cancer last Sunday after being taken into hospital. I have a very large extended family but growing up she and her family was the only part of it who ever bothered with me. I spent weeks, if not months in her care during my Dad's illnesses. I found out on a Facebook post as my Mom hadn't gotten around to ringing me as it was fairly early. At least they did call her before they posted.
So today can just sod off.
Sorry to hear that @Gadget.

Glad your dad is managing to get out @Lucy . And you @Mudgie

It's the other groups of oldies /walkers/cyclists / mums with pushchairs with loads of kids who have obviously arranged to meet up with their mates for something to do each day , and blocking the footpaths whilst having a good old natter. I've even looped around and passed them about an hour later still there !
I gave up walking and turned back after a few minutes the other day , after encountering a group with 7 pushairs not wanting to move over so that I could avoid getting mowed down by passing traffic.
Pretty sure they couldn't have all met by chance on their walks...

Why not try telling them that you're awaiting a COVID test and you don't want to infect them, I'm sure they'll soon move out of the way.

I'm experiencing similar non- social distancing if I walk around Parkside, hence why I tend to drive a short distance to go walkies. Plus I prefer to go somewhere with a nice view rather than a housing estate.

And if you go to Seighford go here, we've been today. https://www.facebook.com/themilkstopseighford/
That sounds interesting. Never heard of it before. (Used to walk / stagger back to Weeping Cross from Blazes Nightclub in Seighford most Friday nights many moons ago, in the early hours of the morning! )

I'm not sure where you walk or which bit of Stafford you are in but it's very easy to get to a public footpath across the boring fields that surround Stafford while the cows are locked up inside. I like the walk from North end up through Creswell, across the fields to Seighford and either back round via the bridleways or across more fields to Doxey. There are similar walks off Beaconside, from Baswich and western downs. I'd advise never going near the canal tow path, or any of the disused railway lines around town atm where people are social distancing morons :(
Yes, I've been alone on footpaths "across the boring fields" but would expect my usual canal towpaths to be quite busy.

Can I enter this competition.

I hate my job - so I quit but I have to work a month which I'm almost at the end of.
I got a new job - but they wanted me to start straight away so I am trying to work two jobs - both part time but currently +55 hours a week, who needs sleep or weekends?

I am trying to home school not 1 but two children of primary and secondary school age.
They cant get along for 5 minutes, they cant work unsupervised, and I swear they tag team so at all times at least one of them is causing trouble.
12 year old seems to have developed a permanent 'teenage girl attitude' obviously I am thrilled about this.

My kitchen looks like something literally exploded and I can start charging for expeditions to the top of my washing pile. Today I started at 5.30 am, I'm still in my PJ's and I haven't had breakfast yet.

Hopefully things will feel better after a shower and another coffee which is where I'm headed now.

Had a big argument with my mum.
We don't argue very often at all but she's driving me mad.
I apologised afterwards - she did not extend me the same courtesy....

Been gradually going mad for the last 11 months since working from home permanently. Added to that the wife's Bower Cancer flared up meaning she had to have another op in September (her 4th) and is currently on chemo so we're all trying to get through that as well as home schooling the daughter.

However got some better news on Monday. Work had asked if anyone was interested in Selective voluntary severance (redundancy). I applied and found out I was successful. Don't know when it will be due to new systems etc but it's exciting. Will be a big change after 18 years at the same place...

Good luck with your job hunt.
Well the plan is to not do one for at least 6-9 months after leaving... And even then I'm not going to be too precious/proud about what it is.

I've spent the last 13 years driving to Junc 2 of the M5 for work so as long as it's close by I'll be happy.

There's plenty round in office roles from what I can see on LinkedIn, and hopefully remote working will continue in some form...

I'm hoping I'll be gone before the summer holidays so I can spent some time with the family however given its dependant on an IT rollout I'm not so confident!!

I though I had a great day yesterday until I reflected on why I thought my day was great and then it hit me that it was actually a bit rubbish. If I’d had that kind of day a year ago I’d have been very miserable, it seems the things which would have made me miserable make me happy and now that thought made me even more miserable!! (I’m not really miserable ... just a bit flat!)

I totally understand what you're saying but there's also the side that we are more appreciative of some of the mundane things that we used to take for granted.

To add to this I would like to think that people are a little more tolerant of others than perhaps they would have been a year ago.

This is true... although I’m not sure I’ll be more tolerant. I’m going to need socialisation classes like puppy’s have a after a year of shielding!
