Forum, can the work syndicate win the lottery this Saturday please?
When I had a proper job, two thirds of the office were in the pools syndicate.

One week, we actually had a win.

Littlewoods sent us a large cheque - in the sense that it was physically large and "Littlewoods" could be clearly read from some yards away.

We burst into the boss's office, waving it and shouting "We've won the pools and you can stuff your jobs up your arse - we're all off home now. Bye!"

He got a bit panicky.

Then we admitted that the cheque was actually for fourteen quid.

Just finished mowing the lawns. That first cut of the year, it hurts. Cracking day with bright sunshine but surprisingly cold. A bucket of water with ice on it still had a thin layer of ice at midday !! Little or no wind so you soon warm up cutting through grass like Amazonian rain forest.
According to the pedometer on my watch, I've done 2800 steps !!!

Big place the Amazon Basin.

I generally have a fairly good memory for "things", where they are, where I got them from, even how much I paid.

However, every now and then I find something that I just have no memory of, or even any explanation for.

This is one of those.

I would have passed any lie-detector test before today, if asked whether or not I possessed one of these.

Warning if thinkingn of buying anything online from Matalan during this lockdown....

I don't usually shop in Matalan, but needing some jeggings to knock around in thought I'd order 2prs from there 3 weeks ago.
Email received a couple of weeks ago saying order despatched and giving Hermes tracking number. Hermes not got it yet. Just saying they are expecting it.
Rang Matalan to find automated message saying they aren't manning the phones during lockdown and to email with any queries.
What looks like automated email reply on Friday night at 11.30pm ' Your order is still in our warehouse. We will let you know by email when it's been despatched.'
Looks like I'm going to have to write it off as a bad loss , as they've taken my money out of the bank weeks ago :(

I should have read the reviews beforehand.
Lots of others been having same problems

Last night I dreamt that all Gin & Tonic now tastes of Mackeral, and there were see through Angel fish floating in all the bottles of Gin.

Horrific, & more of a nightmare.

I ordered some jeggings (and loads of other things) from Marks and Spencer online, I've been very impressed with their service. Items arrive quickly, they keep you up to date with when things have been dispatched, expected delivery etc.

When I wanted to return some items I decided to take them back to the store rather than the faff of packing everything up and going to the post office.

I was quite surprised that the downstairs was open and I could have just bought everything from the store without ordering online.
It was very quiet when I went in (a Monday morning) so I'd definitely recommend shopping there as an option. It's preferable to me to actually see the quality of the item before purchasing rather than the continued disappointment of online shopping.

I went on Wednesday, it was a lot quiter than I thought it would be, and the staff were great going off upstairs to get different sizes of school uniform for me.
