Possible council tax email scam

I've now received two emails with the suffix cannockchasedc.gov.uk relating to my council tax and with links to staffordbc.gov.uk.

Does anyone know if the cannockchasedc.gov.uk suffix is related to SBC or are these scam emails?

I've not received any snail mail letters about my council tax this year so I don't know if they're just sending emails out instead.

I've had mine through the post box , think it was last saturday (wasn't Royal Mail postie , someone walking around pushing through all the houses )
Date of issue on my Council Tax bill letter is 5 /3/ 2021

Some Stafford council-tax-related operations are carried out in Cannock, as some sort of efficiency drive, but it seems to be a bit of a mess. Your emails could be real - or they could be fake.

As an example, a Single Person Discount form, on paper, has to be posted to Cannock.

It is possible to elect to receive your council tax demand by email, although you should have to elect to do that.

However, the whole system seems to be a bit of a mess.

They claim not to have received stuff I've posted to them, and to have posted stuff to me that I never received.

Son (in Worcester) elected to have his by email . He's sent me copy of it and it came direct from his Worcester Council email address , with the actual bill shown within the body of the email. No attachments or links to click onto .



Helpline number on my bill is 01785 619279.

Might be worth checking with them @Thehooperman to see if legit or not ?

Right, I've just looked at one of the many emails I've had about the recent cock-up with my council tax and it is from a cannockchasedc address.

There is a second thread about the same thing - also from Cannock.

Just to add...reason son got round to sending me his genuine council tax bill was because he was saying how many scam emails he'd had claiming to be from his council relating to billing during that week .
