Other noteworthy residents:-

Robert Relf
Ricky Tomlinson
Rolf Harris.......
i remember all three.
He wasn't 'Ricky' back then and I've still got a "Free the Shrewsbury Three" I think leaflet from the 1970s.
Quite rightly he's the only one to have his conviction quashed albeit after a very long wait.

That search comes up with Frongoch, where they were moved to after Stafford. There is, interestingly, a roadside monument there.

Then there's Tom Collins. Not Irish and hasn't been around the Moon, but drink enough of them and you become Irish and get to go around the Moon .. (as far as you know anyway.) :P

Michael Collins took this famous photo.

Everyone alive was on that planet, with three exceptions. Two of those three exceptions were in that Lunar Module in the foreground, leaving just one person, in the whole of humanity, not within the frame of the photo.

If you think picking everyone out on that one is tricky, try the famous 'pale blue dot' photo taken by Voyager 1 on 14 February 1990, although if you look very carefully you can see I am waving.

I remember seeing another similar pix taken by the Cassini Spacecraft with a mighty Saturn in the foreground and a tiny dotlike Earth in the distance. A similar arrow pointed at the Earth with a bubble caption that said: "They fight over Gods."
Such images really put us in our place.

No one has ever put it better than Carl Sagan.

Visited Cannock Designer Outlet this morning for something to do on hubbys week off. Wrongly expected it to be not so busy if we got there early...
Big queues on surrounding roads and entering the Outlet , then around the full carparks hunting for spaces.
Made the mistake of deciding to get out of the queue and go to the further away carparks, which were advertised on the board as having hundreds of spaces free. Big mistake , had to go back and join the original queue again as most were closed off, and the open ones already full. (They opened them up later as we were driving off home.)
Then with long queues waiting outside most of the shops , just managed to get into Mountain Warehouse.
At least I bought a bargain jacket from there, so not a complete waste of time :D

Hardly any social distancing , and quite a few inside shops and toilets without face coverings.

Been once , seen it , don't think we'll bother again.

Best part of the day out was a walk over the chase on the way home, followed by a visit to the farm shop. Plans to get a bite to eat sitting outside the cafe on Camp Road after the walk had to be abandoned as it started raining though.

.

We’ve not been yet but a friend of mine and her husband went and spoke very highly of it.
She said the best time to go is around 4.00pm when all the day trippers are leaving.
It’s open until 8.00pm so that’s plenty of time to look around.

Is the cafe open at the moment? I used to enjoy a nice coffee after a long walk on the Chase but haven't been that side of the Chase for a few years now.

Yes , noticed as we were driving off that the queues to get on were shorter. If we did ever go again I'd wait until it wasn't so new , and when social distancing rules have been relaxed so that we can get into a shop without queueing for so long.

Yes it was open this morning as we drove past about 11.15 am . I'd forgotten all about it as not been there for years. We used to stop off there quite often on our walks .

I've been to more places today, than I have in the last 6 months - and it was scary.

Hairdressers (not scary at all)
Matalan, (very scary) while I was having my hair done, the carer had sneaked off to (actually, omg) buy himself some new clothes. Sadly none of them fit, blame his lock down cooking, so he decided I had to accompany him to take them back & pick the correct size.
M & S, not usually scary as I go later in the day but busier than I'm used to.
Asda (SCARY) I've not been there since way before Christmas, not going back anytime soon.

Last Friday I had my hair cut shorter than its been in twenty years, the hairdresser did exactly what I wanted.... Sadly, this does not suit me at all (or it does for 10 mins after I've blow dried it, but not after ive been outside, in the weather, touched it at all, or slept, or been hot, or put it in a ponytail).... My own stupid mistake.... Can we all keep our fingers crossed that there's no humidity, rain, sleep, or hot nights for the next 6 months until it grows a bit? :emo:

Well I think that you are lucky.
I took 2 photos in to my hairdresser and I came out looking like neither of them.
Whatever she does only looks nice until I wash it myself and then, because I can't blow dry my own hair, it's just looks like a horrible frizzy mess.

I spent an absolute fortune, took her ages to get rid of 6 months of grey.

After I'd washed it, it looked like a mop and when I complained/moaned/got upset husband said

"Well I like it, yes it's a mop, but at least it's not a grey mop"
