Grabbed a ticket the other day as it’s my birthday weekend and hopefully my dad, sister and sister’s boyfriend should be able to visit by then.

Should be good fun, nice that they’re doing it in towns as usually this stuff is only in cities

Did this today, along with I think 85 other teams (if you saw groups of people on phones around town today, some in fancy dress that was it) - quite good fun. Theres another CSI based one in March I think

Yep! We did it too, came 9th (Herd of Cats), good fun all round and timed nicely with my birthday weekend

The app needed a few tweaks, like showing your compass direction, as the map can be a bit hard to decipher now. But overall was a good day around town and made us venture to places we rarely tread. The party shop guys were chatting with I think a grocer from over the road at the door and commented to us that they’d seen a lot of people around that day, much more than usual. Seems like it’d be a good thing for them to let local businesses know about what’s going on so they can prepare for extra traffic…

Good chunk of money for the company too it looks like (£35/team), given they use the same story across multiple towns, if Stafford (a town that would probably be quite under subscribed to this) can grab 87 teams they must make bank for just popping down some map markers for a previously written story.

My brain is going into business mode now and wondering if there’s a gap in the market for a platform that allows anyone to create these “trails” for murder mysteries and other story stuff for their local area…

Definitely doing the March one either way

Yeah, my brain was doing the math too...

We came 30th, but we had it right pretty early on and could probably have scored higher if we had have guessed then. But it was fun, and yes town noticeably busier. We also had breakfast and lunch in town, and were sat at the liquor tank next to two other teams I imagine there's few cafes happier with their takings today.

Yeah we had it pretty early on too, but wanted to go through everything first

Didn’t get all the hidden POIs mind you

Why not bring it up to date and name it after some modern day local murders of young women and girls?

Yes, of course I'm being negative. It's only a bit of fun after all isn't it

But you are celebrating the murders of vulnerable women are you not?

Or have a missed the point and it's a whodunit about someone farting?

So what's the formula ? Hideous murders + 130 years + or - the dramatisation by television divided by cabaret

Not long before you all do The Somme body search experience I guess

So, I was concerned about this aspect as well, but it turned out to be a entirely new story, set in modern times, with only the slightest nod to the original murderer in the methods. I suspect hamming up the Ripper in the advertising worked better but that aspect was slightly misleading.
