Is Store21 still there? I haven't been that far in for years & thought it was part of the gym now.
Is there a food place there also?
The only place I've been in for months is the card shop (apart from being dragged around the entertainer just before the Christmas lockdown)

The full list is here - http://www.guildhallstafford.com/shops (I always forget about the ones around the edge - most of which I assume will stay

Not as far as I know.
( But that doesn’t really matter):lorks:
No one really seems to know anything, the people in the know are keeping quiet.

I don't see anything happening anytime soon, after all, there are still lots of other shops that will have valid rent/lease contracts, as long as they give the landlord no reason to evict them before their leases are up they can stay put.

Looks like the external social media teams managing the Facebook and Twitter pages have been let go. After being very active , their last update was the 21st May.

Mercia Real Estate, hmmmmmm! Had a look at their website, most of the portfolio appears to be large industrial units. All of their retail or mixed use developments still appear to be at the pretty picture development stage.

It will be interesting to see how they (I quote) 'use our specialist expertise to unlock underlying value and maximise capital growth'.

Nothing about that statement makes me think that they won't do what people have suggested. It's full of bland wording....
It is the same if you look at their website. Lots of pretty pictures of developments in Birmingham which are at the 'planning stage' but the only tangible properties they appear to have are large industrial sheds. Be interesting to get hold of the accounts, probably haven't got a pot to p@ss in.

******************************Announcement*****************************We have been receiving enquiries regarding hire of our space, proposals for exhibitions and for out brand new window gallery, alk of which is great to see!
However, some of you may have heard news that the whole Guildhall Shopping Centre has been sold and that some businesses have had their leases terminated. We also have been contacted by the new owners, but believe that our tenancy remains valid.

We are liaising with the new owners to clarify our position. We are therefore unable to confirm any bookings until we have resolved this matter.

We will of course update you as we get further news.

Guildhall Shopping Centre
The Guildhall Shopping Centre was bought by Mercia Real Estate which is "looking to revitalise" the offering of the centre.

Clarks has since closed in the centre after the landlord served notice and The Works is due to close on Sunday. A spokeswoman for the Guildhall Shopping Centre said: "Mercia Real Estate acquired the Guildhall Shopping Centre earlier this month and are looking to revitalise Guildhall’s offer immediately.

"They are planning to work with all stakeholders to discuss the future offering, so the space will be reflective of Stafford’s requirements.

"Whilst it’s sad to see businesses, friends and colleagues leave the Guildhall Shopping Centre, we wish them all the best in their new ventures and look forward to seeing their businesses open and flourish in other retail locations soon."

Clarks closed after the landlord of the store served notice on the premises, the closest high street stores are now, Newcastle Under Lyme, Wolverhampton and Stoke.

The Works is due to close on Sunday after it was given two weeks' notice.

A spokesman for The Works said: “We can confirm our store in the Guildhall Shopping Centre will be closing permanently this weekend. We were recently informed by our new landlord that our lease had been terminated with only two weeks’ notice, which is disappointing given The Works has traded well in Stafford over the last four years and has a loyal customer base in the local area.

"Our customers will still be able to buy their favourite products from The Works online or from nearby stores in Newport and Cannock.”

Bosses at the shopping centre would not confirm why the leases had been terminated or what would be replacing them.
