Weddings!

Anyone going to a wedding this year?

We’ve been invited to two so far.

Anyone that absolutely loves weddings, please excuse me, because I’m not always a fan.
Some weddings start so blooming early, there’s just so much hanging around, waiting for the photos, bored, hungry, waiting for things to get going.

Anyway, we’ve just booked two hotel rooms for the weddings, one in London £285, and the other in Sutton Coldfield £150.

Then because it will be the same crowd at both weddings I’ve got to buy a different outfit for both weddings. 2 dresses, 2 headwear, 2 pairs of shoes 2 handbags.
And of course 2 very generous donations to the dream honeymoon.
Probably not going to get much change out of £1500

Husband will be ok because both weddings are people that he works with, but I don’t know them well and have to be on best behaviour.

I know, I’m such a miserable cow sometimes.

I hate any occasions, I hate dressing up, I hate mixing with people I don't know!

I love dressing up and I generally don’t mind chatting to new people. (Cruises, holidays)
But that’s on my own terms.

Weddings involve too much hanging around and being somewhere that you perhaps wouldn’t really rather be.

I should also add, that the last one I attended (I may have posted about it on here 5yrs ago) ended in divorce, 2+ years ago

Well yes, we went to a wedding a few years ago, it was amazing and cost (£50.000) massive marquee in the grounds of somewhere, piped music in the toilets.

I was still bored,.

Anyway, that marriage was done and dusted within 18 months.

I was supposed to go to one last weekend, but due to circumstances beyond anyones control it's been moved to next year. I'm attending a commitment ceremony on June 1st, it's for my eldest and his lovely girlfriend. I already call her the daughter in law from hell, so now she will be, sort of.
Both ceremonys were meant to be last year, but again had to be postponed.
My son has posted on Farcebook today, they don't want people dressing too fancy, you can wear your pyjamas if you want, but if you do want to go for it, make sure it's something that can be worn again and again.
Luckily what I'm wearing to his do, I can wear to the wedding next year too, so long as I don't lose or put on too much weight.

Can’t you have a positive covid self test a day or 2 before.
We’ve “accidentally” booked holidays that coincided with 2 distant family weddings in the past. One of those was a couple who’d got together, bought a house together, had 2 children then spent a fortune of their parents money on a showpiece wedding. They’re still together but ain’t got a pot to piss in. I just don’t get it.

No, I wouldn’t do that, not so near to the day when they’ve sorted out the menus and table plans.
Anyway, my husband doesn’t feel the same dread of weddings as me.

Both weddings are people in his team at work, they’ve been a big support to him, he wants to go and is looking forward to them.
I’ll probably be ok once I’m there and I feel better that both hotels that we’ve booked are at the venue so I can slip away for an hour or so if needs be.

There are some things that I just don’t want to do but have to attend to support my husband.

One of the best things about lockdown was that I got a year off from several tedious events.

Enjoying a drop of red.
We've got to go to a wedding in August. One of my admin staff is getting hitched. Already the nagging has started about 'you will wear a tie, won't you, you will wear a tie, won't you'.

No I bloody well won't. Suit, yes but not a tie. Never again in my life do I intend to wear a tie.

This wedding which we attended a few years ago was very lovely, one that I actually found very enjoyable.
But look @proactive John Taylor from Duran Duran isn't wearing a tie!

I wonder why that woman in the yellow dress has a "knuckleduster" on ? ............... ;)

The woman in the yellow dress is Gela Nash Taylor, John Taylor’s wife.
She’s an American fashion designer, co founder of the Juicy Couture clothing label.
She was very nice, but I agree that the rings and bracelet were a bit over the top.

If I know the bride or groom, I enjoy and have a great time at weddings. Otherwise I find them tedious and will do my best to find a reason not to go. Younger me didn’t turn up to three day “do’s”. Now much older and considerate I know that is an appalling thing to do, the cost, rudeness etc.

As an aside I thoroughly recommend John Taylors autobiography. Interesting and honest. A really enjoyable read.
