My father-in-law is here to visit for a week.
I do not like my father-in-law.
I made it a full 24 hours before I wanted to axe murder him.
Pretty impressed.
Only 4 days 23 hours 11 minutes and 27 seconds until he leaves....

I built an irrigation controller with a plug-in electronic timer driving an old washing machine valve. It's been running reliably for twenty years. There are 9V battery powered things, but they tend to get unreliable after a couple of years, I found.

Got the wrong power supply for a valve that waters my garden, would have worked for a bit but would eventually have gone up in metaphorical smoke

I took Bee for a walk on the wrong side of the Chase this morning and ended up stuck in traffic near Slitting Mill lane en route to Morrison's on our return journey.
After enquiring what the delay was for we ended up inadvertently watching the demolition from an estate above Rugeley.
The woman next to me mentioned that her friend had a perfect view of the towers every morning. To which I replied yes she will until tomorrow morning

My father in law visited us today in our new house, his first visit. I love the guy. Really do. Aside from one major issue, over the past few years, from nowhere, he has become massively racist. Today I had to tell him not to use certain words in front of my grandson or in my house.

Good on you, it can be very difficult especially to tell someone older than you that those aren't your views and they're not acceptable.
I can't abide racism or homophobia of any sort, I've had to have conversations with many work colleagues because of both. If the customers start down that line I walk away.

Ours were set for one minute bursts - on the hour - it was up to you to know the time - there is a chiming clock in the garage - the idea was to have that a minute fast and hope you could hear the chime.
It's always been there - some people just feel that it has become more 'acceptable' in the last few years.

We, are celebrating lgbt+ at work right now, I found myself in the position of having to explain to older staff what this meant.... The lgbt part was easy it's the + that caused problems as I don't know all the different groups.
I basicly ended up saying all that matters is if you like the person, that they are good and nice to you.... Its very difficult trying to explain + to people that don't even know what a persimmon, mango or sweetheart cabbage are! (not that I'm describing any lgbt+ as fruit & vegetables, you all know what I mean!)
