Future of the Kingston Centre.

To be honest, there always appears to be plenty of space around the Kingston Centre on the roads outside the place.

Let's be honest residents on St Leonard's Avenue and surrounding streets put up with a lot worse than what will be happening at the Kingston Centre...

Not to mention traffic is going to increase pratically down this one way street due to parked cars, (good luck parking if you learn to drive and get a car here) and the nice quietish (use to be quiet but you know lockdown) canal paths will get busier, :(

On about the new housing development but obviously this will effect fairway too, at least there's a bit more space... but will be traffic coming down this road to go to kingston centre, via lichfield road and that new housing development too

Fun times

Still waiting to win the lottery to buy a big house in middle of nowhere in the countryside

I remember about ten years ago the initial proposals for the new development included closing St Leonard's off at the roundabout and forcing all through traffic up Fairway. With the proposed relocation of the school I can see that idea rearing its head again

All the people in the new estates have cars, the shit design of Stafford transport infrastructure means they are almost forced to if they need to get anywhere. These residents will not give a rats ass how much they negatively impact on previously quiet or quiet ish residential streets that have turned in to horrible rat runs. There isn't much they can be expected to do. The council don't care either. I vote LTNs and living streets, make driving difficult. Obviously the alternative infrastructure has to be in place first.

Moving St Leonard's to the Kingston Centre is good but it won't solve all the issues. The houses planned to be built on the now demolished GE site off Ranshaw Drive falls in St Paul's Primary school which only had 123 pupils. They'll need to do something else in addition to the Kingston Centre move...

I was reliably informed the move hinges on a successful planning application of the housing estate behind the Hough retail park. I don't think that's gone in yet.

Given the land is being carved up between 3 developers I don't know if they will all be submitted in one go or separately. Either way there's no way it will be refused even though parts of the application will be flawed...

Not sure I agree with that, between people starting to park on the bridge to walk into town, over 400 new houses and the access to the Kingston not being wide enough for two vehicles to pass, I can see hold ups increasing.

Do people still work in the town centre? Other than in supermarkets? I thought offices were deserted

I did write that 18 months ago, when people still thought the world might make sense again one day ...
