I think this is due to many people stopping bothering and claiming exemption, and the new variants. Does anyone have data on cases of jabbed vs not?

EDIT: Sure I read somewhere that the average age of hospitalisation has dropped massively, now in the 40s, but can't see the article offhand. That could be for many reasons though, could be because less people are getting it when jabbed and it's a natural drop as the older generation are vaccinated, or could just be that all the older ones susceptible already died.

I think the vaccine does work well, just compare the deaths now, to the cases and what it was like before, but what does worry me now it's allowed to spread more, mutations of the virus, and the vaccine becomes less effective.

It's bizzare some people refuse to have the vaccine, when it obviously does good, but once again if they want to risk getting really ill, long covid, or even worse, that's up to them ain't it?

It's better to do what boris has done now, than wait longer, and maybe in winter, at least people can build their immune systems without having flu on the side etc... I do agree for once with him, if they don't do it now- when will they be able to.

My issue here is that if vaccinations work then we should finish the vaccine programme, because it's better for someone not to be ill than to be ill at a more convenient time. Covid patients waste resources that are sorely needed elsewhere, another month and we'd have jabbed everyone that wants it.

Everyone else I really don't care about, just a shame the anti vaxxers will use up resources that could have saved more deserving lives :(

I rolled my tickets over to next year because I really didn't fancy it, think it would have made me anxious.
I know a few people who deferred their tickets to next year. It was as Covid safe as it could be with numbers restricted (4000), the separate 'squares' for each party & having to show a negative result on entry (+ extra toilets & bars etc.). The squares were a bit of a free-for-all though. In the e-mail we had from them it sounded like you would be pre-allocated one however, in reality you just had to grab what you could when you arrived. All the squares ended up being taken so people who came later just had to make camp around the periphery the best they could. As I said it was a great night overall (as it always is). It was just a shame to see how easily folks were dropping their guard the more booze they got inside them.

True, is it me or has the vaccinations slowed down a little? just seems like that, not sure why i've had to wait so long for my 2nd jab...2nd week in aug, and I even had to re-arange that to make it earlier. (due to wanting it asap due to current circumstances)

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you Zylo? My second was originally booked for August but last week I was able to bring it forward by a whole month. So perhaps you can't get any sooner because of everyone rebooking theirs?

I don't have any data to hand to back up what I'm about to say (its gleamed from bits I've heard on James O'Brien's radio show in the last week) so take it with a pinch of salt, but I've heard that vaccine uptake has nosedived in the younger generations in the last month. Some think that may be the false impression given that the pandemic is now over after Boris's announcement of the July 19th date. I also heard it mentioned that our rate of vaccination had slowed down to such an extent that, even though in overall terms we're still up there, we were temporarily bottom of the list last week or the week before behind everyone else that is currently vaccinating. I'll have to look that up because it sounds unbelievable but that was definitely what was said.

I’m inclined to agree with that. Especially if they prioritise ambulances & emergency hospital admissions to those that have had the vaccine rather than those that just don’t want it. The last thing I’d want to see is me or mine having an emergency waiting for an ambulance while they’re tied up with selfish, ignorant people.

Late 20's I know i'm not exactly a "priority" but I know a lot of people around my age, or younger that somehow have had both jabs already, (without any health problems)

Then why do i have to wait for my 2nd jab?
My dad was moaning about how slow things are in spain (brexiteer, lives over there). He had his jabs 3 weeks apart though, so while he was much slower than the UK getting his first he was close on the second.

They've closed some of the bigger jabbing centres now too, like county showground, I bet they were getting through a lot of people a day.

Well that's silly, especially as I guess a lot of people want the 2nd jab even quicker now, after today.

No need to apologise, if anything it encourages me to see younger people eager to get it - I was just asking to compare against when my second jab was booked as I thought that might be an indicator of the time scale they're on (I'm late thirties).

It will be interesting to see how that may alter, when holiday travel becomes a viable option again, for the vaccinated...

There were stories last week of people going into vaccination centres, demanding their second jab early for exactly that reason and threatening staff when they say no. A few places had to bring in police and security guards.

It's not just in the arena of football fandom that the English disgrace ourselves...

I imagine there may also be issues around the UK choosing to have a sovereign vaccination record system, rather than integrating with the one all the neighbours are using, It will, after all, be where most of them are going, if they can.

People may even feel that they should get away with using somebody else's paperwork, etc.

I have accidentally got an EU vaccination record and I feel a lot happier about that, to be honest.

I wonder how an EU citizen with a British vaccine passport will fare?
Pick a queue - or do both queues?

The scope for parochial jobsworthiness is huge. I've had a copper at Holyhead accuse me of lying to him, when I said I'd lived in 'this country' for a long time, when he was suspicious about my accent, then I told him I lived in Stafford. It took me a while to spot the distinction that was annoying him.
