One point about the rates of vaccine uptake dropping off in young people that I've not seen discussed much is that infection rates amongst people in their 20s is currently the highest ever recorded level for *any* age group and people who have either had a positive test recently or have been 'pinged' can't get vaccinated. So a portion of those lower numbers in recent weeks will undoubtedly be to do with that.

Bit of a flaw in the 'present proof of a negative test before entry 'system in venues. Son did a lateral flow test yesterday morning and logged his negative result so that he could get into a music venue last night with the NHS email saying negative result.
But anyone could just scan the code on a home lat flow kit without actually doing the test , log a negative result on the website , get the confirmation email and then get into venues untested (or even positive and logging as negative) .
Said he was asked to show his proof of being negative last night, but the person in the queue behind him didn't have one. This person was let in , but told to just bring one next time...

I also thought that when I got an email for the Phonics concert next week.

The options being to prove you've had both jabs (but you could still infect others at the concert, prove a negative test (but you could lie and still infect others at the concert or proof of immunity by having a positive PCR within 180 days of concert (which I'm not sure immunity works yet so you could still infect others at the concert).

3 out of the four of us have had double jabs and the fourth is my son who I know will be honest and do the test and get the email before going.

Hopefully there will be some form of testing on entry as well.

Glad I booked seats now and not standing tickets where more people will be mingling.

That was my fear with the whole idea, really. Seemed too easy to fake a result.

Seemed to be a bit better at Download where, judging from some vlogs I've watched, you actually had to take a photo of yourself with the test displaying the result and show it to the staff so, at least, harder to fake in that case. But yeah that's partly why I won't be going any where near gigs any time soon, as much as I badly want to get in a mosh pit again.

I currently have to do lateral flow testing twice a week for work. To log my result on the NHS portal I have to take a photo of the test strip on my phone and it automatically reads it (I don't input anything!). This started a couple of weeks ago. Everyone else I know still has to input their test result manually. Not sure if I have been randomly selected for a trial of this photo system?.

I have to go to Fusion and put it in, it's fine till it all plays up!

The self test for general use relies on you being honest. The text confirmation of a negative result you get is exactly the same as the community testing that I used to have at the Kingston. When I first started doing home tests & reporting the results I did a false negative test result to see what happened. The text message was exactly the same. Using this system for admission purposes is wide open to abuse.
I don’t do the tests for a job etc, We “only” do them for self protection especially for elderly relatives.

I was in Bude Sainsburys this morning and very few were wearing masks (the staff were though.) Also, lots of empty shelves !!! ... but that could be down to it being the first week of the school holidays. Traffic on the main road in was a madhouse !! ... but I was ok as I came out that way. (There's a back way into Bude which is a bit tight in places but brings you out near the promenade.)
I've arranged to visit family in Stourbridge next weekend, and I'm still not sure about that. I'll probably go for it though. :|

Nice to see most customers in Aldi, Radford bank were wearing masks when I went in this afternoon. Only a few who weren't , as well as none of the staff (most of the staff didn't wear them before the 19th anyway...) . Bit annoying though at the till as I was waiting for the customer in front to pay. The customer behind me got so close she whacked me in the back with her shopping bag as she loaded her stuff on the belt!

Also most pedestians I passed on my walk there and back were also still social distancing.

I usually soup that up a bit by swigging a gob full of tomato juice first, perhaps topped up with some broken Polo Mint bits. Cough a bit of that up and they're still running an hour later ... :P

Daughter in law had a phone call from the NHS this morning saying they got the release date wrong on the app, when she tested posative for covid, so her isolation has already finished instead of having to wait till this coming Wednesday....

Seems shifty to me?! :strange:
