Coronavirus.

Just caught the tail end of a TV News interview , talking to a government minister (Adam somebody ...). Bit I heard...
Apparently ,overnight ,Boris has now stated that the pandemic is far from over.
Compulsory mask wearing could be brought back in .
Returning to the office advice is to be reversed to working from home again if possible.
And the covid passports WILL be a requirement for entry into large events at some time in the near future....

If there's one thing I love about this government it's the consistency!

Seriously though, are we (as in the UK at large, not us obviously) so stupid that we can't see they just throw every idea out there ('a government source said' or 'are expected to announce') and see what is most popular, then make their actual decision based on what they see? And that it absolutely has to still be killing people at new year, preferably a big pile of corpses just before the shitshow really kicks in on Jan 1st.

If lockdowns happen this year than they are probably going to become an annual thing. If high population vaccination cannot prevent the needs for restrictions what will?.

It's a matter of timing. We know that the protection that the vaccine offers drops off after 4-5 months and most older and vulnerable folk who are double-jabbed now fall into that category. That's why booster jabs will be important, should BoJo announce them today (I'm a little conflicted, personally - I want nothing more for my vulnerable loved ones to get better protection for the winter but it also doesn't seem right for rich countries to get a third dose when so many are still at extremely low numbers overall).

From what reading I've done over the last few years, most pandemics of this scale last around 2-3 years before transmission levels drop off to the point that it stops being a concern outside of winter months. Friends in the NHS tell me they expect a lockdown this winter and then *hopefully* that will be it, assuming the virus doesn't escape the vaccine via mutations (which it admittedly has a higher chance of doing now they've seemingly scrapped the covid passport scheme).

James O'Brien often says on his radio show that this government call heads AND tails when they toss a coin just so they can claim they got it right when it lands.

I think the self lat flow tests are helping spreading it , with so many getting negative results then going arounding mixing mistakenly thinking they haven't got it . Lots of people son knows have been blaming colds and chest infections foe feeling sh1te as several lat flow tests they' ve taken have shown negative. Then their PCR tests have come back positive.

The latest 2 positive cases at work were luckily sent home before they started their shifts. ( found out later after PCR tests they had it) Both had either just only so far had one jab , or only recently had the 2nd so not had time to fully take effect. )

I read that Pfizer is being recommended for the boosters.

Can't wait for my next Pfizer fix... the first ones seemed to cure my cough that I'd had for 2 years , but the vaccine must be wearing off as my cough is now suddenly coming back.

I said exactly the same thing at work this morning. I normally get 6 or 7 coughs/colds and major chest infections a year.
Had nothing for the last 2 years. Got a right rough cough on me last couple of days and major sniffles.

My sinuses have started playing up, probably non related.

But you would be surprised at how many colleagues, and their family's, currently have covid despite being double jabbed.

Face masks, social distancing, working from home ... wonderful ways of cutting down the spread of colds & flu - and because people caught fewer colds last year the have less resistance to colds this year.

I think it's been ripping through Stafford lately, lots of friends have had it. Most jabbed, and only one hospitalisation but she wasn't jabbed.

Stats are still showing more likely to get it if not jabbed, and definitely more likely to die.

I'm still staying as safe as I can , but actually commented in the pub today that it's like it's never existed the way people are acting.

Local Co-op quite often hasn't got hand sanitiser or basket / trolley sanitiser available these past few weeks.

Me & hubby stayed in last year with him shielding , avoiding going out shopping by ordering deliveries of food in. But now feel would have been safer going out then in those days , when everyone was taking precautions, than now!

If they have symptoms they should be going for a PCR. LFT are to pick up asymptomatic /presymptomatic cases

Off to the testing centre with Minime today, she's had cold type symptoms for a few days, and waited till this morning to tell us that the person she sits next to in one class (and travels with on the school taxi/minivan) tested posative yesterday....

Typical as there's a big party she was going to at the weekend, the first real party that they've all arranged since covid.

Fingers crossed.
