Having a box junction then invites the problem of people not venturing into it (if turning right) as they're thinking they are doing something wrong...

Used it today after a trip to Derrington to cut through from the Hungry Horse to Halford, much quicker at though minime had to tell me which exit to leave at on each roundabout as I've never been that way before.

Ugh! Like at the Hough, when they sit there at the lights waiting to turn right, not knowing you can venture into the hatching in that case....

It doesn't really matter if it's a box junction or not - the peculiar Stafford genetic mutation that prevents 80% of local retinas from being able to register the colour used for yellow road markings means that they are essentially secret symbols - of those that can see them, the proportion who understand the rules will be small, not that much larger than the proportion who don't think it applies to them.

... Only understood by us out-of-towners, especially Geordies, we are especially good at knowing when we are in the right.... People from Stafford have no idea how traffic lights, yellow box's, bus lanes or merge lanes work.

You may have mutated..?
Clearly I've lived here too long!

It's still dark when I go to work at 6.30am, and I was only concentrating on getting home at 3.30pm today, I didn't need to look and see if a yellow box had appeared as I was turning left.....

It's comforting to know you drive around completely oblivious to your surrounding. No wonder you moved to Stafford...

:P

2 opposite, you have the traffic from Wickes side and Halfords side going at the same time, both have the option to turn but across each other. It's a nightmare. In all likelihood in the future I will turn out near the job centre if I am on Halfords side or turn left along the new road if I am on Wickes side.

Isn’t this fairly common place in Stafford?

It’s a bad idea yes, but if someone does manage to crash on it how do they manage to get down Weston Road?

The Magic Roundabout at Hemel Hempstead (there's a few of these about.) I was once told by somebody that entered it, and emerged four hours later, that he saw a Roman Legion marching near the centre, still trying to find their way out ......😱

Try driving the Étoile in Paris or even better, riding it.

Been around there many times (many years ago mind and in an Artic ) and it is simply a roundabout followed by another & another and if viewed as such it actually works quite well.
