IIS SBS 2008 - Minor Disaster

I have been battling with this issue for about a year now. Well, when I say battling, I mean it drove me crazy for about a month and then I ignored it for 11 months. Anyway, I thought I've nothing to lose by posting it on here and seeing if anyone has any ideas! The long and short of it is that I need to reinstall IIS because some plinth (me) deleted some stuff relating to OWA and sharepoint and now they don't work anymore. It's not vital at all, which is why I haven't done anything about it, and from what I've read on t'interweb, reinstalling IIS will cause me no end of pain, which is why I've been ignoring the issue.

BUT (getting to the point), I was wondering, does anyone have any experience in reinstalling IIS? Should I just leave well enough alone?

Never had to, but bet it will be a pain! The WPI sorts everything out itself for home machines, and I've used it several times, but not sure I'd want to try it on a server. Maybe you could run this on another PC, and try to set everything up again on that before you touch the server itself?

That's not a bad idea, I have an old server I could try and re-image and then try that. Thanks for the idea tek-monkey.

No probs, I only installed IIS yesterday myself onto my file server so it was on my mind already. Need to remove the IIS from my main machine now, as there is no point running 2 web servers from home.

Surely in SBS 2008, there will be the "add/remove components" option under the add/remove components.

From there, if you choose to remove the IIS components of the server, and when they're all gone, choose to re-install it, it should then ask you for the CDs and you should get a nice clean re-installation of it.

I could yes but its integrated with so much stuff on the server I'm worried about everything else that will need re-configuring etc.
