Stafford: not for Grannies or 4x4 drivers, apparently

It was on Sky News, so very widespread! Absolutely vile to be honest, I dont know what sort of human being could just walk past & ignore a toddler that had been run over but apparently some people in this world can. Made me literally feel sick.

    Time to Demolish shops?

True, every town has empty shops, just like every town has houses for sale, there are always shops opening up so the reason any shop unit is empty for a long time is not because no-one wants to open up a shop there, its because the freeholder is being unrealistic with the rent they are asking or...

    Time to Demolish shops?

I actually dont think it (the Civic centre) is such a bad design, it needs the window frames replacing/painting but that is just simple maintenence, once that is done I think it is actually quite attractive in a modernist sort of way. Once the walkway is improved (which is having funding...

    Tesco's Traffic Lights - FAIL!!

So glad its not just me, I thought I was going mad!!! I have ended up having to run the red light turning right out of tesco late at night a few times now after sitting there for 5-10 minutes!! This has worried me as well, especially that time of night. But after sitting there for 10 minutes...

New M&S and Morrisons on their way to Stafford

Found it, knew I had seen it somewhere! http://www.staffordbc.gov.uk/live/Documents/Forward%20Planning/Additional_Material/Retail-study.pdf On page 91 of the pdf, section 7.20 says "In addition, the opportunity at Kingsmead is currently somewhat detached from the primary retail core. One way of...

New M&S and Morrisons on their way to Stafford

By the way have any of you been to the M&S in Tamworth? Its enormous, airy, light, makes the old Stafford M&S look so outdated. If the new M&S is anything like Tamworth it will definitely draw in new shoppers, its as different as for example the new Tesco was to the old Riverside Tesco.

New M&S and Morrisons on their way to Stafford

I'm sure I read somewhere the old M&S would be demolished to form a new walkway to the North Walls car park development, I might be wrong though. I think it was on one of the "future planning strategy"-type documents on the borough council website.

    delivery jobs?

I delivered for Dominos in Stafford when it first opened & enjoyed it, Ben Sandy the owner was a really nice bloke to work for (not sure if he still runs it day to day or not as I think he owns a few now). Just ask instore. I also used to deliver for Shuma Balti on the Common Road, they were...

Where to live in Staffordshire....help required please

I would second that. Lived in Stafford all my life then moved to Cannock 2 years ago (at the age of 25). A lot of my Stafford friends turn their noses up at Cannock but I actually really like it & have made lots of friends. Cheslyn Hay is really nice, I would recommend Heath Hayes too, thats...

What do forumites think of Dale Farm? and the travellers ...

My point exactly :-D I think the reason the Dale Farm eviction has got so much news coverage (bear in mind the eviction is a local issue that really doesnt affect the whole country) is that it is an opportunity for the whole country to discuss their grievances/dislikes of the travellers...

What do forumites think of Dale Farm? and the travellers ...

There is that council site on Glover Street (off Gaol Square), & in all fairness I have never heard of any trouble/crime happening there, not seen any in the local papers anyway.

What do forumites think of Dale Farm? and the travellers ...

My view is, firstly yes they shouldnt have developed the site without obtaining planning permission first. That is against the law. HOWEVER..... Half of the site is completely legal & has planning permission. The other half (the illegal half) was a disused scrapyard, as I understand. From the...

    Question..Does stafford have a ringroad?

That made me laugh :-D Im sure Walton High School could build new buildings to make way for the road, they would be pretty much the only casualties of the new road, the only other casualty really being farmland & peoples views, which are not protected, something which has been debated on...

    Question..Does stafford have a ringroad?

The planned route is shown here: http://staffordbc-consult.limehouse.co.uk/portal/planning/cs/options?pointId=1228749682050 It carries on past the fire station, then does a sharp left just as you enter baswich, skirts round the back of the new Saxonfields estate, round the edge of baswich, then...

    Question..Does stafford have a ringroad?

I commented on another thread that when I used to live on Meadowcroft park, I once fell down the stairs & broke my elbow. The ambulance took me to hospital via the baswich bridges route because the traffic was so bad heading into town. Hardly an ideal situation- those bridges are just not...

    Question..Does stafford have a ringroad?

The new Stafford Plan 2011 makes for interesting reading: http://www.staffordbc.gov.uk/live/Documents/Forward%20Planning/LDF/Draft%20Publication/Draft-Publication-Colour-version.pdf Page 50 (actually page 54 of the pdf) seems to suggest that by 2031 the next phase of the Eastern Access will be...

    Question..Does stafford have a ringroad?

The answer is no. It has the beginnings of a ringroad (Beaconside). I would consider it would need to be extended to link up to J13 to form a real ringroad. I think that would benefit the town enormously & facilitate its expansion (the council/government has decided Stafford needs to expand...

    Greyfriars Prayer Hall

That road is chock a block with parked cars anyway, its unfair to single out the prayer hall for parking problems. What about the jobcentre that has no customer parking at all? There are plenty of other smaller businesses down that road with inadequate parking, its quite badly planned as a...
