    What's for dinner/tea?

Stoopid Pictures: The Pictures Strike Back.

Excellent. I'll have a pint of Flowers please, barman. And after that, I'm off to the butchers down the road for a pint of Brains.

    Mundane facts about your day...

@Carole About 4 weeks before we go on holiday, my wife will always say to me "Are you going to get something nice to wear on holiday?" , and I feel obliged to buy something, usually a shirt, but sometimes a pair of shorts. It's difficult to "wear out" shifts and shorts if you only ever wear them...

    Mundane facts about your day...

I have a daughter. I'd actually have enough space if it weren't for half of the wardrobe being taken up with her clothes. (She doesn't actually live with us, but we look after her "stuff" while she's off gallivanting round the world.) I'm also not very good at getting rid of what are...

    Mundane facts about your day...

Some t-shirts I only wear in summer, some only in winter. Winter's mostly polo shirts. Anyway, while I was sorting out my wardrobe, Mrs Mikinton was making facemasks. (Guess which one's mine, made from a no longer needed winter t-shirt.)

What are you listening to right now?

Prompted by Withnail's post on another thread.

    Mundane facts about your day...

Today is my "Changeover Day" - the day I get my summer clothes down from the loft and pack away my winter clothes. I could probably have done this about 6 weeks ago (and probably would have done 10 days or so ago had we still been going to Croatia), but, as they say, "Ne'er cast a clout ....".

    Coronavirus.

Just wondering if any fellow nerds are into Bayesian Analysis? "As of 8th April, there are around 1.4 million patients in Coronavirus [1] and there are around 7.7 billion people in the world [2]. So the infection rate is around 0.019%. Suppose a pharmaceutical company develops a test kit to...

    Wanted Jigsaws and Books

Good call, @Chillybean . One advantage of an eReader is that you don't even have to hold it. You can prop it up against a sandal as you lie on your sunbed. ETA Just read that you can't use Borrowbox on a Kindle eReader. A Kindle Fire, yes .... but not an eReader.

    The brighter side of lockdown

I've associated the song with the word "Corona" ever since "Nine Coronas" in the 1990s.

    Coronavirus.

I think so. We've used pillar boxes a couple of times with no complaints, though it's hard to be certain they've been emptied on time. One thing we did notice once though as we walked past on a Tuesday (say) was that the "next collection" plate said "Wednesday".

What are we watching on TV?

I gave up on the Bundesliga football and am now watching some cars racing around the streets of Hong Kong. I haven't let on to the missus it's a computer simulation; she thinks it's real :snigger:.

What are we watching on TV?

I've just started re-watching* the first series, and as you say, it really is a joy. Rather than binge-watch them, I'll probably keep it to one episode every couple of nights to make it last. Don't want to get through it too quickly, especially as I didn't see the second series listed on...

    Coronavirus.

... I pulled my previous post as, whilst I had no trouble finding a link to the "1784 road deaths in 2018" stat, I struggled to find anything about how many were children. I've since found something that mentions that 48 were children, but am looking for something a bit more authoritative. ETA...

    Coronavirus.

There's a link to the Lancet in the quote in my previous post, which I hadn't noticed. Of the eight children mentioned in the articles ... "Six of the children were of Afro-Caribbean descent, and five of the children were boys*. All children except one were well above the 75th centile for...

    Coronavirus.

Only one death mentioned in the UK in this BBC article from yesterday. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-52648557 "In April, NHS doctors were told to look out for a rare but dangerous reaction in children. This was prompted by eight children becoming ill in London, including a 14-year-old who...

The slow crawl out of self distancing

We went to Pipers today around 1:00pm. Not much of a queue to get in, but it took a bit longer to come out .... and the car park was a bit cramped. Mrs Mikinton said it seemed quite well organised with customers behaving themselves (I'd stayed in the car park and watched the cars on the A5).

    Mundane facts about your day...

Dogs can be carriers too, you know, though not through their breath. There were instructions several weeks ago about keeping your cats indoors and your dogs under control. Both are members of the household, a bit like kids really (no respecters of social distancing).
