The Swan Stafford: Brasserie & Restaurant

Good reply. Thanks. I will consider how I would make it a better system and reply from a device that I can reliably type on. Not this iPad.

Where to go for Afternoon Tea in Stafford

In truth I have no problem with the 13 quid, but se forumites are mor keen of the 2 for 10 quid type places Not been myself, but the good lady went wih sister, baby nephew and dad and loved it! Sandwiches, cakes/scones and loads of tea.

Where to go for Afternoon Tea in Stafford

The Moathouse does afternoon tea. Think it's a bit pricey though.

    Deshi Khana Indian Restaurant

I can't say I did. I probably eat there or get take out once or twice a month so entirely feasible I missed any "off period". I would say the last 2 takeouts have been first class though - since I discovered the House Special Jalfrezi.

    Deshi Khana Indian Restaurant

Choice between this place and the Narvana place then? Which is better? And for those that know, is it better than London House in Eccy?

    The Post House in Stafford

The cocktail lounge bit is good. That is all. Looks like the Chef has gone before I had chance to sample his remarkably expensive even by Michelin starred restaurants, food.

The Swan Stafford: Brasserie & Restaurant

I used to live walking distance from The Swan and loved it. Was the first place I went for a drink after moving here and it really helped with the shock of moving out of a big city! Having to use their car park (well as it happened not used it) the other day really earned them black mark though...

If that's the lad I am thinking off, then he is always super polite and attentive!

    The Badger, Eccleshall

Managed to login for the first time on the new site, to comment on this. Was excited that it was being reopened. In the absence of it becoming a decent Italian/French restaurant I was glad it was going to become a proper pub again. I popped in on Thursday and there was a pool table. And a new...

    Scrapping the 50% Tax Rate!

It's a tax that simply does not work and long term will have a negative impact on the country. People who are in favour of this sort of thing are just jealous; it's politically motivated and always was. A cheap vote winner for the uneducated poor. Due to globalisation/the internet, etc, etc...

    Stafford hospital's future

No blame. Just pointing out the irony.

    Stafford hospital's future

You would care when being rushed to burton in the back of an ambulance as there will be no A+E. You will care when an elderly relative ends up in north staffs and their partner spends a fortune on taxis to visit. Losing a fully functioning hospital will be damaging to Stafford.

    Stafford hospital's future

I am with you. I think he means do the opposite of what he says. Also hope his name isn't graham, else he hasn't really thought this through.

    Stafford hospital's future

Predictable outcome really. Pretty certain on an older thread it was discussed that Stafford hospital would become a community hospital no longer performing emergency care or major operations. The irony of the well meaning cure the nhs campaign eh?

    Redrow Homes Castle View, Stafford

I know of at least 9 people who have bought new builds (Taylor Wimpey, Persimmon, and a few small developers) and only one has had any major problems with their house. Only anecdotal evidence, so I know many, many people who have NOT had any major problems. Aside from the paper thin walls, I...

    Redrow Homes Castle View, Stafford

New builds do have a bad rep which is not entirely fair. I bought a 3 bed mid 60's town house that hadn't had much done to it in 10 years. It had loads of problems, drafts, broken boilers, dodgy double glazing, leaking baths etc and I spent a fair bit on getting it all resolved. I'm not talking...

    Redrow Homes Castle View, Stafford

They have dropped their prices massively already, so make sure you do some research using tools such as Property Bee in Firefox to check price history. I looked around the show homes and agree some of the layouts are decent ish and with the revised prices, not overly expensive. Personally I...

    Smoking outside Staffordshire Place

I agree totally. That wasn't my point. I was being pedantic about the "Daily Mail esque" cries of "waste of our council tax". They should have considered provision of smokers when designing and building the place. Incidentally, did you know that they have 2 directorates now.. People and...

    Smoking outside Staffordshire Place

That statement is a fact, but their council tax did not pay for the building, so really the statement could just equally apply to any group of people. For example the majority of people walking past the building eat meat, or drink tea, or in fact anything unrelated.
