I have seen the Bourne fillums, and have to tell you right now, i do not have any kind of peculiar set of skills that might mean if you were Taken i might still manage to get an Irish passport before you were spirited away to the Middle East.

There is a process to acquire citizenship directly, although it requires you to be a resident during the process.

I have an old passport you can borrow. I still use it as photo ID and nobody has ever spotted the expiry date was years ago.

I have only ever used my current one once, when I was confident (and correct) that the person would actually look at it properly.

Your pronunciation of 'film' would not be enough evidence, I fear.

Whatever happens, i'm stuck here.

Mrs Noah & I are in the same position - several members of the family can get EU passports but we can't. Passports from Malta & Cyprus are too expensive, at least £500,000 for a Maltese passport and Estonian e-citizenship doesn't really help. Guess we are stuck here.

I think you'll find that is still disputed.
By Denmark/Faroe Islands, Iceland, Ireland and the UK (presumably Scotland, if that breaks up) - all of whom have signed up to the UN charter which states "Rocks which cannot sustain human habitation or economic life of their own shall have no exclusive economic zone or continental shelf"

In 2016 the Houses of Parliament had 47 British Members holding an Irish passport

In 2022 there are 321 Members with an Irish passport

EU might have been BREXITED, but THEY ain’t

A million Irish passports issued so far this year.

A lot will be renewals - you can still renew, up to five years after your last 'modern' passport expired, so a good few people are doing that, as travel becomes more possible again, after a few years of it 'not being worth bothering about'.

I renewed mine online, before the Plague hit, and it was bizarrely efficient. Getting a first one, though, is quite a procedure, even more so now, I suspect, after various external states forged a few some years ago. I would, though, be surprised if 25% of the HoC and HoL really have one...

I do still have my last expired one, you don't have to surrender them these days, and I successfully used that as valid ID the other day. Nobody in the UK who has ever demanded to see a valid passport has ever spotted that the one I show them has expired, six years ago now. I do carry the current one, just in case anybody ever does actually look at it properly.
