I would need to have data on cost and likewise on effectiveness to begin any statistical analysis.

I definitely wouldnt try restoring your PC back too far staffordjas, if it is running as slow as you say then it's quite possible that you have some kind of malware running that shouldn't be.
If you need assistance let me know, I'm not expensive.
Just mentioned to hubby that we need it looking at, as it is going so slow and keeps freezing up. We have to keep switching it off at the wall & re-starting.And today It was off while Norton was being sorted out. Had to reload Norton as it wouldn't run with this new IE8 ,and then saying an internal program within the system was preventing it from loading. Looks like Norton is active at the moment.

He's not keen on paying money out when we can get by, but I seriously think we need it looking at.

Can I have your number to phone you at Wrm computers please- I won't be able to get on here if it goes altogether :(

I Will certainly give you a call to get it fixed,as soon as I can get hubby to realise we seriously need help

And I won't me wearing a micro-skirt !! I was a lot younger and slimmer in those days ;) Would look like a belt on me now-a-days

ah, that's probably a big part of your problem.. norton/symantec/mcafee products are notorious for breaking computers and making them grind to a halt..

i'd defo get on the blower to wmr, i'm sure he'll sort you right out, mini-skirt or no ;)

Now that I've got that 'favourites bar' off the top of my screen and my PC operating more or less as It did before......I now have another daft question........

If I have a 'Bad' website saved to favourites, will it affect my computer while it is just sitting in the favourites list or will it only affect my PC when the website is opened up?

it shouldn't have any effect unless you try and open it.. why would you knowingly have a "bad" website in your favourites, though? to get rid of it, just click on it once with the right mouse button and choose delete!

Don't know if I do have any 'bad' ones in it,but son has saved some Youtube Clips to favourites which I don't trust.

According to my scan reports,Norton has Quarantined a few 'trojan' viruses in April and as much as my son insists it's nothin to do with him, they have come from somewhere.Judging by some of the idiotic youtube footage he finds amusing..........

I'm on a mission to clean up my machine !!
