Will do mate, this is probably the most interesting computing related thing I've seen in years* so am following it closely. The framerates of those 1080p vids was still a bit too low to be useable, but I can't see 720p being an issue. Also I noticed that reference board said it had 122Mb of RAM, whereas the model B boards (which you need for ethernet) have 256Mb on them. Hoping that will help, but to be fair that poor ARM chip must be maxed out!

* Yes, I'm a geek, albeit one that has got a bit bored of tech lately.

I have wanted one of these since I first heard about it.... I told all my friends about it and they all looked similarly unimpressed. "But the original model was no bigger than a USB pendrive" I explained. Still they did not care......

Glad to hear of others technolust for the Rasberry PI.

Only problem is I don't have a monitor/TV that has a HDMI connection which I think is the only way of getting a display from the board.

Lots of news over the last few days, we now have a manufacture date! Says they will be ready by the 20th, so end of the month we should be able to buy them.

Also a new team called raspbmc are packaging xbmc specifically for the pi, from what I can tell. Looks interesting.

And finally, an old mate of mine has made an interesting introductory post on the use of an rpi in education. Worth a read if you have a few minutes, for a teacher he has an interesting sense of humour!

Well its released, but I'm buggered if I can buy one!

They have chosen to use two seperate companies for distribution, Premier Farnell or RS Components. At RS you can register your interest, I can't get the Farnell site to load at all. Think I'll go back to bed :(

There was a bit of chat about it on the 'Today' programme on Radio 4 this morning, at about a quarter to eight - I listened to the first minute, but turned it off as it got a bit annoying - if you've got more patience than then me it might be worth a listen - or not...

Well it appears demand has outstripped the website's ability to serve and as such is down!

The r-pi guys have already tweeted that anybody who managed to place a multiple order will be restricted to one unit, and they are trying to work out if the ebayer is a member of staff from one of the distributers or a scam artist.

Either way, they don't have them to sell yet and if the r-pi people get their way they wont ever have them.

I spent all day yesterday trying to order one, then got a text at half four from a mate saying he'd ordered one already for me. Project SetTop Raspberry/Arduino Dalek will soon be go!
