Where are you located AA Silencers?

Would you be able to fit a set of front and rear suspension springs (and possibly shocks) supplied by a customer, they will be brand new

Sounds like I might have a brand new favourite garage to recommend and bring my families cars and vans to! :)

More than happy to give it an MoT once over if that suits you. what we'd suggest though is that you simply book your MoT well within the month overlap you're allowed on the certificate dates. There's no retest fee on the MoT so you wouldn't be stung if it fails and given that there's a fair few items that are discretional on the test it saves us recommending anything that might turn out to be un-necessary eg- one man's corroded brake pipe is perfectly serviceable to the next man. Once you have the ministry's piece of paper letting you know in black and white what it needs we can schedule the work in. We're open until 4Pm on Saturdays if you need the car during the week.
saturday sounds good tbh, i'll drop in before lunch - many thanks :)

edit: do you do brakelines? the ones on the track car want doing really as they got noticed by a mechanic not long back - fogarty esses + no brakes would be a disaster!

Hi Guys, sorry for the delay in replying. Had my head buried under cars all day. Brake lines no problem, either braided or copper. Springs and dampers no trouble either, no matter who supplies them. We can do the geometry afterwards from tracking and camber to corner weighting for track cars.

best bet if you need to make a booking is to give us a call on 01785 213500. I don't always pick the messages up fast enough otherwise!

Thanks I will given you a bell.

Previous garage who replaced my shocks rounded of the hub bolt which holds the shock to the hub, so I would also like that removing and replacing with a new one if possible,

Thanks

I left my car this morning in the capable hands of Mark from AA Silencers for an MOT - lets hope he calls me later with good news :D

50,000th poster!
Now thats what I call a full service, they even oiled the door locks and side door runners,
brakes fixed, even put the steering back in line, that's been bugging me for ages as I
couldn't see the speedo when driving in a straight line.
Very pleased with the cost and work done.
My thanks to all at AA silencers.

I'll second that ... car wouldn't start outside AA two days before service & MOT but they kept it and did all the work required.

Cheers guys. We do what we can. Poor Shoes copped for a few jobs off his MoT. He's pretty handy with a spanner though I reckon he can break the back of the work himself. He dropped round in that nice looking track day toy of his too. It's good to see so many of you, actually feels like a genuine community. I was starting to give up hope on society until I stumbled across the Stafford Forum.

Haha yeah - the mechanical side of things should be no problem at all, wishbones are en route and I have spare shocks in the garage (and to think I was about to ebay them!). Bulbs are of course no problem and the headlamps I'll leave in your capable hands.

I like the idea of going to a place which has had so many good reports and unless I've missed it, not a single poor one :)

What a lovely thing to say! I have bookmarked your post, and will draw upon it next time someone signs-up just to say everyone round here are grumpy old farts. ;)

a, I'm not old.

b, This would have been handy to fend off that rather strange recent comment on the Forum's Facebook page about the Post House thread....

It's just that as a garage you're essentially offering a service no-one ever wants to have to use and car failures normally happen when people are most financially crippled. I don't think anyone get's into the automotive game to earn a fortune. It's mostly because they love cars and want to help people. Because of the forum I feel we're offering a service to our community rather than being viewed as a cross between an undertaker and a cowboy builder. I haven't felt as positive about helping people since I started spannering, so the real thank you is to you guys.

I'm not an old fart either by the way, more like an apprentice old fart. I'm still in training.

A few posts under my belt
We hadnt realised there was a post for these guys so when we just found it had to add our experience of AA which was only this Tuesday.
They dont know this but they genuinely helped us out "big style" .My daughter had her first and only vet school interview, shes worked really hard , weekends, evenings summer etc etc to get the chance and as you guessed our old car broke down day before, no way we could get there having only our faithful old estate .
Took it to a major high street name who took one look and quoted nearly £500 to replace exhaust and its parts . ( you can imagine hubbys reaction.. the tears, tantrums ....) no way we could pay for this hubby just made redundant.
He took it first thing to AA who were absolutely amazing , they slotted old chuggers in ( affectionate name for car that is not hubby ) and amazingly cost only £24 . We cant praise them enough, the service was so friendly, professional and helpful, they went out of their way for us and we will recommend them to everyone we know honestly cant thank them enough.
Managed to get to interview and waiting to hear thanks to them xx

I remember him, pug estate isn't it? Glad we could help. Some of the other exhaust places don't live in the real world. Yes a complete new exhaust would always be the best option, but when it's not what you need and it's definitely not what you can afford then it comes down to what you need to keep your car on the road.
Didn't know about the interview but I'm glad she made it and good luck on getting a positive answer. Let us know!

They may be getting more work from me than originally anticipated - I tried to disassemble the wishbone/shock absorber assembly last night and got stuck on one very stubborn bolt - so stubborn that I broke a socket extension trying to undo it.

I think I'm going to just get some new parts and take them to AA and leave it t the pro's!

That'll make the lads happy, they love a challenge :D

I'm sure it's nothing that won't free off with a little heat.
