I’ve ordered a couple from different places for next week I’ll report back. One is from green flamingo food (vegan) and the other was from Lilly’s secret vintage pop up shop. I wished I’d thought to use green Ts as she’s such a community minded business and deserves the support.

Ok update as promised.

Vegan afternoon tea from Green Flamingo got a huge thumbs up from the very picky teenager. It was beautifully presented in a compostable box, it looked fresh, tasted good and an interesting variety. maybe a bit pricier than I’d have liked but having said that it was sold for one but was enough for two to share with all the items it included. It looked very appetising and was definitely a treat.

The afternoon tea from Lilly’s didn’t have the same visual wow as the green flamingo but was much cheaper. I forgot to order sandwiches but there was lots of cake, we ordered for 3 but have enough for an army I think we’ll be surviving on cake for the rest of the week! They weren’t keen on the taste of some of the cake and for that reason I imagine I’ll have some waste.

Out of curiosity, how much did you pay?
I’m beginning to think I should go into business selling afternoon tea.

Here is one of mine from last year. Home made sandwiches, all cakes home made, also (not in the photo because they were being kept warm) .... home made scones served with home made strawberry jam and clotted cream.

That looks lovely Carole. I’ve generally seen them at about £18-25. Altho there are cheaper available. I did do my own in the end as Greens said they don’t deliver to Stafford and I Ieft it too late for delivery for others that I tried.

Thanks Peggy. I may consider Lily’s next time as that looks good too although the Google review I read about the VE Day tea not being delivered and being abandoned as late as 7.45 pm makes me a bit nervous so I’m really glad that all went well with your order.

Thanks for that @santaslittlehelper, it’s very interesting but I wasn’t actually serious.
I’m happily retired and I’ve no intention of filling my days cooking for other people.
Anyway I don’t have a hygiene certificate.

I was just interested in what people pay because in my opinion the ones that @peggy showed pictures of didn’t look particularly appetising.

I do love making afternoon tea, a few summers ago we did afternoon tea in the garden for 60 people.
Husband and I even made the 3 tier bone china cake stands ourselves by scouring charity shops for beautiful china plates, drilling holes in the middle then we bought the connectors that join the plates together off e bay.

So yes, if I put my mind to it, I’d probably make a really good go of it, such a shame then I really can’t be bothered.

You could always do a Forum afternoon tea, as a celebration should lockdown ever properly end...
