Ranton to be precise! Have we exhausted all stafford musician links now? Surely there must be one more....

just realised; The Editors. not a huge fan but there is the ford connection. all met at the uni, played at the albion, and all lived slade style on corporation street.

and The Rakes. well one of em anyways.

They used to drink in the Bankhouse, Rich.

The Rakes - farking hell, awful stuff. Was the bass player in some band called Oi Polloi?

Jimbob - you're not confusing Lenny Kravitz with Lemmy are you? And Slash was defo born in Stoke. The big hairy drug fiend.

I remember them. From about ten years ago? Yeah they were shite.

oi polloi used to support us when i wielded the sticks of doom and they were bloody awful. they were all stafford grammar types. the rakes had some short lived success last year, the guitarist from oi polloi moved down londinium and joined them. think they were on tour with franz ferdinand. bit rubbish though

i remember seeing hoi polloi in the grapes on the same night as off colour claire....and yes, as far as i remember they were pretty shoddy.

No, definitely wasn't Lemmy I was thinking of. Hehehe, Lemmy Kravitz.

I must have had some weird dream that Kravitz has some Stoke connection. Speaking of which, I had a dream last night that Laurel and Hardy were being interviewed for telly near the train station where I live, but later it turned out that I'd got confused and it was actually The Nextmen:

Easy mistake to make.

Anyway, sorry, don't mean to derail the thread. I shall continue to try and think of Stafford based (or at least tenuously connected) bands/artists whose music could be played at Andreas Rex's party forthwith.

PS, where's my third pip? I thought you were supposed to get 3 when you'd made 250 posts?

The one on the left is clearly vertically challenged. Needs some exercise.

To my knowledge Kravitz is not from Stoke. I won't be surprised if the Don Juan has a love child or two there. Got them all over the shop apparently.

That mardy fella who owns (or used to own) The Grapes who was he in? Was it the Climax Blues Band? I think his name was Holt or something. He's got a solo album for sale in HMV you could always pick it up. ;)

This could be the start of a new thread...

What did you dream of last night?

I would start it but i can honestly say last night was pretty uneventful dream wise!

Yeah, Derek Holt. Didn't he make some awful Stafford-pride style tune with Freddy Sandy? You could get them to perform it at the party. When you want everyone to go home.

Derek Holt. Yeah he was in climax blues band. You have to giggle at some of the rock cliche's in the grapes. It's like walking into the set of spinal tap sometimes :slayer:

Spotter's badge for Mr BBC.

I used to work with Neil Morrissey's brother. To my knowledge he never made a record, so you probably won't hear his music at the party (notice clever tie-in to thread).

Blatantly if our Governator was here he would have diverted this topic to a new thread. Damn those employer fascists!

Didn't Bob the builders brother end up in the bethany project and top himself? Then bob didn't wanna know coz he was like all 'i'm bob the builder, i've had a number one hit!'

Bob had 3 brothers, none of which made records which could be played at a house party, to the best of my knowledge.

so that's decided then. there are to be no records played at the party which were:

a) by bob the builder

or

b) by any of bob the builder's siblings, whether or not they did indeed put out any records.
