Anyone know about Socket A mobo's?

i need a socket A mainboard to replace the one in my cuffy athlon xp bedroom PC, but seeing as that's about 3 generations old i'm a bit out of touch with what's hot and what's not in socket A land..

ideally i'd like something with onboard graphics.. i will never play any games on this machine, so onboard graphics is absolutely fine and will save me from forking out £30 on a dedicated card.. however, if there are no decent mobo's with integrated graphics then i'm open to ideas..

there are a couple of ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe on ebay that i've got my eye on.. anyone got any other suggestions?

We have lots of computery type stuff which we are about to get rid of either by e-bay or other environmentally green methods. Have a word with Sofa he'll tell you where we live and you can come and have a look!

Aye indeed we do !.. however Mr B not sure if the spec will be what you are looking for ..now then .. Oh hang on .. just incase anyone else can't understand I will say in advance you need to have a look at either

or spend some pocket money on a subscription to computeractive magazine as opposed to nuts,big jugs monthly or loaded or whatever ..

currently gathering dust have an old pc main unit..

Spec about a
P166 or 233 ..not sure
built in graphics bout 16mb soundcard ..nothing fancy at all ..although tis socket A mobo so might be suitable ..but to be honest it sort of went out with the ark! ..could be useful as a linux server or something similar .. last knows OS was ME .. but can handle red hat etc ..

and like I said anyone who doesnt understand ..see previous comments .. oh and get with the future too lol..well the past in this CPUs case ! .. nyway let me know if its of any use and we can arrange somethin' ..

thanks for the info, but i'm after an upgrade, to be honest!

also, if your CPU is intel, it can't be a socket A board, as this is only for AMD CPUs!

acyually dude its not intel its AMD k sommat or another ..but just generalised .. but yep it sounds ark like to what you need so will wish you luck with your search..ever had apeek at the freecycle groups on yahoo..theres a good one working in stafford area ..may be one where you are..might be worth apunt..
