Anyone thinking of using Netflix?

I'm considering offering an opportunity for up to 3 people to take advantage of a shared deal for Netflix including a Roku streaming device as part of the package. (Wifi required)

Basically it would cost £80. This would be for the cost of the device and 12 months access to netflix - Thousands of movies, TV box sets etc. The Roku device also offers hundreds of channels including BBC iPlayer, Demand 5 etc for catch up TV use. If anyone takes up this offer, I would then offer an additional 12 months subscription to netflix a year later for just £36 (£3 per month).

The netflix account would be set up on the Roku device, and would only be able to be used via the Roku (you would not get log-in details for other devices as this would be a shared Netflix premium account)

Anyone interested? Please comment or PM me if so please.

If anyone else has a Netflix capable TV, xbox etc., I'd also offer a single device share for £3 per month via PayPal subscription.

Obviously this would mean account and password info would need to be given so it would be on a trust basis, and you'd need to deauthorise your device before logging in on a different one. However, this is a cheap way to try the full hd (or even ultra hd) service for half the price of a basic non-hd subscription.

Quite tempted by the £3 a month one combined with running the app on my phone..... not sure i'd use it though as I just stream most of my stuff on ShowBox anyway....

1 spot remaining, but I've since decided that PayPal subs are too much hassle for £3 per month, so the others are paying cash for the full year (£36)

£66 on the Roku + 12 months Netflix package now, and due to one of the others being indecisive there are 2 available.
I'm placing the order for the Roku's today, so need to know by 6pm if anybody is interested please

The chromecast is a device, once you engage the content it acts on its own talking directly to netflix so I can understand the problem.

Gone through a lot of media players in my time, got a carrier bag full here I need to get rid of! Settled on the roku though, I want a roku 3 but can't justify the cost right now.

I'm the same @tek-monkey . Really wanted the roku 3, but only for the faster processor. The games and extra features wouldn't interest me so therefore I can't justify the extra cost either.

as a roku 3 user myself , i cant fault it .
plex comes as standard with no faffing about , can be used wired or wireless and even works with my harmony one remote so dont need several remotes cluttering up the place.
ive used the headphone socket connected to the playstation 4 headset and it sounds great.
...dont really bother with the games on the roku but the remote does have the tilt function built in for those that are interested.

... ive had all the roku platers over time and the roku 3 is deffo worth the extra cash , it seems a lot more responsive and i presume that would be down to the upgraded processor.

Somebody has contacted Admin with concerns about my offering, so just to clarify a few points....

1. The netflix licence being used is for 4 devices. The cost of such a licence is based on the 4 devices. Nobody is getting anything for free that they shouldn't be entitled to.
2. Nowhere in the Netflix terms, as far as I can see, does it say that a netflix account can't be shared with anyone you choose to do so. It merely points out that you are responsible for your password security etc.
3. The services are not being offered commercially, and are not being offered for public screening purposes or any other similar activities.
4. I am merely offering an opportunity to share a 4 device account and therefore share the associated cost of such an account for which I remain responsible as the Netflix account holder.

In short, this is no different to Mr A.N.Other allowing his grandaughter access to Netflix on her mobile phone everywhere she goes. If a Netflix account was useable for an unlimited number of devices at one address then there might be an issue (blimey, most accounts would have a few hundred people logging in if that was so), but a licence is being paid for 4 devices to access one account - just like it has been designed to do.

Also, I'd just like to add that I haven't been "told off" by Admin, it has simply been mentioned to me casually so that I had the opportunity to comment purely if I wished. If anyone can see anything in the terms which they believe would be cause for concern, then I would be most grateful to have it brought to my attention either in this thread or via PM. I'm human - I can make mistakes and often do :)

It's a good idea, especially if there is nothing in their terms against it! Glad you managed to sort it out, the chrome cast problem was the only issue for me.

I'll be honest I don't really know much about Chromecast. I just went with the Roku as it looks extremely simple to navigate, and allows you just to display the "channels" that you want. In my case that will probably be just Netflix and the 4 main UK on demand channels (BBC iPlayer etc)
