I have been set a challenge.
A serious challenge.
The prize?
A pair of seriously nice shoes.
Now I want to add that no one is stopping me from just buying said 'seriously nice shoes' but I can't justify the price so I just talk about wanting them ALL THE TIME!
So the husband suggested that IF I completed a 5K run - I should buy the shoes as my 'prize'
I agreed. I'd also had 4 ciders and now regret it...
Who's with me!? xxx
My GF has started running with me, or rather running at the same time as me. She's not ran since she last owned a dog, so we're talking several years, and she is self confessed overweight. She's using the couch 2 5k app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.phe.couchto5K&hl=en_GB) which I started with last year, and has found it so good she actually looks forward to a run now. She's still not finished, I think she's on week 6 of 9, but is now running over 3k non-stop in about 25 minutes. The trick with this program seems to be that distance is irrelevant, pace is ignored,it is conditioning your body to run for time instead. Once you can run for 30 minutes without stopping you will likely already be close to 4k, so only 25% left to go.
I'm no coach, but if I can offer any pointers I'm happy to help. I hadn't ran since school (so almost 30 years), and have had a few injuries, but I'm almost healed again and clocked in a PB 5k last week of 20:31.
Thank you so much - I think I'll need something like this (I love a good routine!)
And congratulations - your PB sounds unbelievable (are you superhuman!?)
Just wanted to say my GF is now enjoying running that much she just did 2 days in a row, finishing week 7 of the c25k program. Seriously, if you like a routine to work to and are happy to follow it's advice then it's a great way to start out

We start Monday!
I will never be beach body ready, even if I started a diet right now, and only had 500 calories a day, I will still be fat come Christmas.

That doesn't mean you can't go on a beach, it's other peoples problem if they don't like it! Social media has given very unrealistic expectations of body shape, I'm a touch under 6' and under 11 stone with a 32" waist and a not terrible set of abs nowadays yet I put on a compression top the other day and resembled the only gay in the village from little britain
