Thank you for taking the time to contact Aldi Customer Services regarding a new store opening in Stafford.
At present we do not have a proposed opening date here at Customer Services. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
Once again, thank you for contacting Aldi Customer Services.
Yours sincerely
Beginning to sound a little bit "Morrisons"......

Aldi are not bothered about building a second site, not right now at least. Rather this changes due to housing development, by then plans wil need to be submitted. Not an uncommon action. One would be surprised by the land Tesco owned until recently.

Aldi have at this time simply got land that is prevented from being taken up by a competitor.

Lidl did exactly the same thing more than 10 years ago before relinquishing it for development, difference being they had no plans in place.

I was really excited about Aldi coming to Stafford North, but having experienced the subject quality of their fresh produce recently after visiting the Stafford south store, I'm not fussed any more. Their fruit and veg just doesn't keep as long as Lidl's. Might as well build more blummin houses on Aldi north site imo.

Will be interesting if Aldi change stance if Lidl move to North walls which would put more distance between them.

Used the Asda car park today. One person in front of me, at Customer Services. Interesting to see that they got a parking refund because the one item they wanted to buy was not in stock, so it looks like they are taking a fairly relaxed attitude, regarding parking refunds, even if you don't buy anything.

I haven't been to Asda during the day since they introduced the parking charge. Not specifically avoided it, just a case of "what time is it, do I need to pay, can I claim it back - meh I just can't be bothered"

All the best

I have to say although I do still go to Asda, as I tend to just have a card with me, I will go to Tesco instead. Obviously Lidl and Aldi take precedence before those 2.

Not that much of a relaxed attitude. Used Asda to purchase a sizeable amount of foreign currency a week or so ago and they refused to refund the parking ticket.

I use Asda for collecting my prescriptions and usually collect them after work so the parking charges don't apply.

I'm wondering whether I can claim the parking fees back if I collect them during the day.

I'll try it and see what happens. Worse case if I can't I'll find a product out of stock and claim it back that way and then move to another chemist.
