Asda petrol pre authorisations.

Probably not just Asda but they've started taking £99 pre-authorisation payment on petrol sales.

My card currently shows this as a pending payment as well as the £75 of fuel I actually put in. I filled up on Thursday and both are still on my account today.

I'm nowhere near my card limit but it could push some people over their limit if they don't realise that there are two pending payments.

Also got me wondering what happens if you replace the pump by accident after going through the pre-authorisation then have to go through it again. Does it take two pre-authorisations of £99?

Same at Tesco but only £50.

The pre-authorisation is still showing on my account as pending reducing my available credit.

Any ideas how to get it removed?

Mine went almost immediately, used it a few days ago. Does seem odd.

Surely if the pre-authorisation is going to cause people issues then, they will have to use petrol stations that have alternatives to pay at pump.

Will obviously but they might not find out they have an issue until it is too late.

Which is exactly why I posted this thread in the first place.

I'm ok because I'm nowhere near my limit but others may be without realising it and it affects what they can buy within their credit limit.

When I've done pre-authorisations on other transactions they've been removed when the actual amount is on my card.

For some reason Asda petrol shows both transactions and limits the available spend on your card.
