Right - Aston Marina was investigated today, and it is a truly excellent place - definitely to be recommended. The farm shop itself is like a food museum - but you can actually buy the exhibits.

I've got some horseradish mustard, brace yourself..

Did you eat at the restaurant? I can highly recommend it... some things have occasionally been a bit under / over cooked but most of the time its very good.

No, this was merely a reconnaissance sortie, but I did have a bit of a something and black pudding sausage from the butcher chap in the shop - and nice, it was, too.

When I say 'butcher chap', I'm obviously not comparing him to any other chaps that happened to be there at the time..

I went with Gramaisc and also thought it was great! The pork shoulder & black pud sausages were absolutely delicious. It's the sort of place I could easily spend a couple of hundred quid...defo going again.

Apparently the Aston Marina Bistro kitchen took a direct hit with a lightning strike

Unsure if they are operating as normal at the moment so if you know more...

Looks like we're going here on Friday, I've looked at the online menu, does anyone know if they do "specials" as well as the listed dishes?

Thanks.

I see the standard of replies are at their normal level on here.. Abysmal. The usual smart arse claptrap from the usual suspects.

If you have nothing useful to say, say nothing.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Went there this lunchtime and must say I was a little disappointed by the food. Nothing wrong with it as such, just not as good as I had been led to believe.

Still it's a lovely place and the shop is well worth a visit. Will return when the weather is better and sitting outside a possibility.

If you want this forum to just be a private little club that scares off newcomers with sarcastic answers and "in" jokes, you guys are doing a great job. What a great advert for Stafford.
