This was at Fairford, then moved on to Farnborough and stopped off in Ireland this morning. It's just been out for a quick spin and passed straight over me at 16,000, with not the slightest sound perceivable at ground level.

Interestingly, the second language in the town here in recent years has been (Brazilian) Portuguese.

This came past after the Brazilian plane.

After a low pass over here, then flew for many miles low and slow alongside the motorway, presumably demonstrating the capacity for surveillance operations.

A lot of Akrotiri footage at the beginning. I was there at the time and you can see my house, but you would have to zoom in a bit to spot me.

You can also see the location where I was arrested at bayonet-point.

Strange that none of this is mentioned...

Now we need to know details of this incident? under the influence perhaps?

Until recently, I was not subject to much fixed-wing military flying where I am, but that has changed in the last six weeks, with passes at low level by (usually) a solitary one of these, at a few hundred feet, pretty much straight over the house.

I get about ten to fifteen seconds of audible warning, but have failed to capture a picture of one yet. I would have got today's one, I think, if the camera hadn't been left in the house.

They're not noisy, but the sound is distinctive, and that helps.

The approaches have come from all directions, making me wonder if there might be some sort of beacon here, the local Garda station is a couple of hundred yards away.

If it carries on, I will catch one eventually - it will only get easier as the better weather arrives.

Does anyone know whether a group of 9 spitfires/hurricanes was flying over Wrexham on Saturday about 16.20?

They sounded like Spitfires but were a bit too far away to identify them.

Yes they could have been.

They were quite distant but sounded like spits.
I get PC-9s low over here most weeks - all you get is the prop noise, not much hint of them being turbine-powered at all. I imagine the 7 sounds much the same.

In fact, they sound very like the 8-wheel tippers from the local quarry on the new smooth tarmac section. I only get about fifteen seconds audible warning of a pass, so I haven't been able to photograph one yet.
