Mention elsewhere of Fokker fighters during the WW2 period prompted me to look this video out.

It is possible that a Soviet Spitfire was met by a Finnish Fokker, but even that seems very unlikely.

The Soviets greatly preferred the Hurricane over the Spitfire.

^^^ Great Vid, some interesting tracks chosen :D

The music may be the reason why it is now 'unavailable'?

Saw this pix on a services site I visit. The Victor Bomber re-fuelling in Louisiana. The beauty of a true predator.

excellent film! I did try and see what the registration number was on the tail boom of one the Beverleys. I caould then work out which squadron was participating.
XR, XT or XL etc.....

Grrat to see the flying block of flats in action! :)

One of them definitely looks like a 47 Squadron plane, based on the nose livery.

I did think that?

Shame 30 squadron wasn't taking part? nice to see so many beverleys on a tactical take off with the doors removed.

So there's no pilot on the rocket that's taking William Shatner up into space. Can you imagine the conversation that will happen:

Ground Control: "Just sit back and relax and enjoy the flight."

Kirk: "Sod that. That star on the right. I bet there's some aliens there I haven't bonked. Warp Factor 9 Mr Scott ... "

:haw:

Saw this pix on a shipping site and felt it might fit well here. It's a Sunderland giving aircover to a convoy off Canada in 1940. Note the ships are passenger ships with the naval escort HMS Revenge. This was known as a fast convoy as it was carrying Canadian Troops to the war. Hard to imagine the disaster it could have been had it been caught.

The reason for the rather large slipway at White Cross Bay Holiday Park on Windermere is that Sunderlands were assembled there and trundled into the lake for their first go at flying.

Doing your first flight in a new plane off a lake surrounded by mountains must have seemed a bit of a 'short straw' scenario...

An-225 is on its way to Shannon again, although it will probably pass well south of Stafford and it seems to be a bit cloudy today.

And it's arrived, a minute early, after taking off in Almaty two minutes early - via Bucharest, Nuremburg, Frankfurt, Brussels, London, Bristol, Waterford.

It is a really remarkable device and, yet again, there are rumours of a concerted effort to get the second one assembled, at last.

It went back to Kiev yesterday, but Twitter suggests a return trip again next Tuesday and on November the 1st.

Chances of it flying over Stafford?
Probably not.

This, and the previous PPE supply flight, originated in China, with a stop for sandwiches in Almaty, then the route as above - the return flight to Kiev retraced that, at least as far as London, from what I saw

Always worth keeping an eye on it around the time, though...
