They've secured some funding & are moving to Browning Street - hence some non-serviced bikes up for sale cheap, ideal for us as mrlittleme knows how to do all that jazz. If my lack of car isn't fixed soon oil be back for a bike for me!

Where on Browning Street?

Latest rumour is that the main man (Mr stamp) and some fellow staff members wasted a £50k + grant and then did a runner and resigned.
They are apparently moving to opposite the pharmacy on browning street to a smaller building with another grant they have been given. But looks like will have no parking and can not easily be seen from the road. Another way to get more money maybe??????
Place still doesn't look open most of the time and not customer friendly.

With all due respect, you sound like just you have an axe to grind with Back2bikes.

In the 3 times I visited in the last week the shop was open every single time. I spoke to4 of the staff - they were all more than helpful, courteous & polite. In fact they went out of their way to find the right bike for my daughter. They also gave us excellent free advise on which products to use to do various bike repair jobs. So thanks to small lady, funny dark haired man, bloke with the blue coat & tattooed lad - my daughter is overjoyed with her new bike!

It does look that way, so far his comments have been a mixture of utterly unsubstantiated rumours, and mocking a charity that aims to give work experience to those less employable ... for giving work experience to those less employable.

They had crisis talks this week as funding has been stopped and they currently don't have means to see them through next weeks until alternative funding can be found. Would be huge shame to see a socially, environmentally and practically very useful organisation go under..

Whilst I completely agree, there still needs to be some semblance of professionalism and financial accountability in how back to bikes is run. they can't just get grant after grant and act how they have been recently. Whilst @littleme has been fortunate in finding them open, I have been 3 times recently and found them shut with no notice of why during hours when they should have been open. if they are taking money then they need to operate in the correct manner. To my mind the drive has gone from whoever started the operation and seems not to have been replaced. it's a shame because I love the idea and up until recently they provided an excellent service and it was a nice place to meet like minded people.
