Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
It’s where the owner fenced the land off a few years ago to stop people walking on it.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Always seemed strange that that area was never built on. Ten houses is going to be a tad cramped though, I'd have thought. Seems fair enough though.

Apart from the fact that it'll cause even more traffic at busy times in an already congested area but, hey this is Stafford, so who gives a fcuk about that.

I've never understood why those who live in the Cornwall Drive/Truro Way area seem to think it's desirable. Paying serious money to live next to the West Coast main line seems mad to me.

It was left unbuilt as it was originally going to be part of the Eastern Distributor Road.
The need for an Eastern Distributor Road was identified about fifty years ago.
Since the 1970s many housing estates have been built and Stafford's population and car ownership have greatly increased.
Yet plans for the Eastern Distributor Road have been scrapped as if there's no longer a need for it.
What's gone wrong ?

Simple, the council doesn't care about roads and car users any more. They think our wonderful British weather means people can cycle everywhere.

In reality we seem to create the opposite of this whole "15 minute city" thing. Houses are thrown up everywhere and no additional shops, bus routes, GP surgeries, schools etc are created. So the new residents of these estates often need a car more than anyone else.

The planning department should rename itself to the "Urban Sprawl Approval Department" but there ain't any planning involved (well, beyond hooking these homes up to the grid, water, sewers etc)
