Be aware traffic wardens sainsburys

in the current warm weather the glue on the tickets is not enough or good enough to stay attached to the glass in your car in the warm weather.

My wife parked in the sainsburys car park and bought a four hour ticket at 1340 and put it on the interior drivers side window
When she got back to the car at 1600 there's still 40 minutes to run and a parking fine on the windscreen. 50 quid or 25 if you pay within 14 days. Ticket stated car observed 1440 to 1500 no ticket, having watched the "civil enforcement" officers circulate taking note of ticket times they probably would have noted the 4 hour ticket some time prior, and unless I am being cynical jumped at the chance when the ticket fell off in the heat.

Having spoke to the ticket office they say the offence is fail to display, so leave your ticket visible on the dash folks the glue isn't good enough and it costs you 25 quid to talk to someone who does not listen in there office and has very much an off hand approach.

Had one of the eager ticket issuers been around my wife could have shown him the ticket in the footwell, but for that probable reason they don't hang about.

Quite rightly feel robbed.

This happened to my husband a couple of years ago now. A warden was still on the car park but refused to cancel the ticket as he apparently hadn't been the one to issue it. We challenged it with the council and it was cancelled, so I'd definitely give that a try before paying it.

My dad accidently placed the ticket upside down on the dash once and given a PCN. It was cancelled on appeal as a gesture of goodwill. But it was made clear if it happened again the PCN would be upheld. I would challenge it as they seam to look favorably on those who can demonstrate they tried to do the right thing but got caught out

I had one after the ticket blew off the dashboard. Challenged with proof of payment and had it cancelled. They snottily call it a goodwill gesture but if you can prove payment they'll never uphold the fine.

Surely if you can prove you paid it should be cancelled?

Watched one stand for 5 minutes watching a motorbike on tipping Street (dunno how long he'd waited before I clocked him) before he could write it up. Guess it's easier to stalk a likely target than do your beat.

Yep tried tek monkey and the lady we spoke to pretty much said the offence is fail to display a valid ticket. "Doesn't matter if you purchased one"

Robbery basically.

That is utter bollox, no wonder the parking nazis are hated! Could all be fixed with pay on leave systems but they'd rather employ people to penalise people that never would have needed a penalty if they could pay as they left!

it doesn't sound like you formally appealed. just spoke to somebody who said it's correctly issued. you purchased a ticket and due to the adhesive supplied with the ticket being not fit for purpose you have been hit with a penalty charge. if that were me i'd be livid

agreed sainsbury's would be an ideal candidate for a pay on exit system. but this will likely cost the council money in lost fines

I agree, despite staffing costs it's a decent earner for them. Makes driving to town just that little bit shitter!

Don't pay it. Write to that nice Cll Beatty person (the one who got planning permission for a huge extension in order to sell her house at a vast profit, allegedly).

Nah don't but that. Never known anyone not to have a fine quashed if you can prove it, including me.

wardens are doing their jobs, if they cannot see a ticket how do they know its in a footwell and let's face it most people will honestly pay or stay within the time limit...some don't and deserve their ticket and I have no sympathy for them no matter how much they bitch. If 99% pay why do others think they are exempt or special from paying ( I.e. take note sister in law you got caught so tough).

I have no idea why people moan about council wardens, they don't issues fines if you are within time and they can see a ticket. Council provide a service no different to guildhall or riverside parking.

but these things honestly happen, it is no big deal just takes you valuable time

Go back to SBC there are no grounds for a fine if what you say is taken at face value and you need to follow the appeal process and prove so, don't just not pay it as parking tickets can effect insurance.

Parking tickets DO NOT affect your insurance or licence.

Only convictions or Fixed Penalties for traffic offences

Always place mine on the dashboard to and CHECK after closing the door that it hasn't blown off.

I never stick mine to the side windows, I've never trusted the glue - always place it on the dash and make sure is visible before I walk off

Don't pay the fine - if you had a ticket and can prove it, go through the process and it will get cancelled

Pay on exit would make much more sense - hence why it'll never happen...

Sainsburys used be pay on exit.
That going back a few years. From what I remember it worked well. One bonus if the carpark was full it didn't let you in till somebody left. So was always garenteed a space. If they brought it back they could put the number of spaces available on the carpark signs or full if no spaces you could then drive to different carpark instead of queueing.

Really?
