i only really know a couple of people on here.. i've met a handful of others, but only the usual drunken encounters, details of which are soon forgotten..
everyone's a friendly bunch though :)
Yes I thought so. Would be great to meet some people, my social life in Stafford is a disgrace.

So..Pieday 29th Dec...good stuff.

I'm gonna have to start using this piemagic contraption which Sofa has lent to me. I've had it for a couple of weeks, and haven't made a single pie! I think i'm a bit scared that something so delicious can be made in just 8 mins.

There sure is. We used to have turkey and veg pie a day or two after crimbo most years. My mum came over from Spain last weekend and she'd bought me..wait for it..a pie cookbook! It really is the nuts..some dead good recipes and stories about the origin of certain types of pies, pie n mash shops in the east end etc...

Synopsis:

From the football terraces to the family table, pies have always held a special place in food history. A pie is such an ingenious idea - meat, vegetables or fruit are able to develop their finest flavours by being cooked in their own juices encased in a pastry crust. Pies have been enjoyed from at least the 9th century, when the Abbey of Fontenelle in France received an order for 38 goose and 95 chicken pies. Both filling and crust have equal importance to the success of any pie and over the years a multitude of recipes have been developed, each one proclaiming to be the best. This book is the story of the pie in irresistible recipes and fantastic photographs. Each pie has a story to tell - a history of provenance, pie-makers, innovation and experimentation. Simple to make and always to be enjoyed, "Pie" shows you how to master the basic art of pastry making and then how to transform even the most frugal filling into a luxury. So take a piece of pie history and enjoy a Cornish pasty, a hearty steak and kidney pie or even a delicious calzone. After, all who can resist a pie?

we have Boxing Day Pie, which is basically all the leftovers from xmas dinner shoved in a :pie: .. usually topped with mash, though, rather than a pastry crust..

I've just happened upon a rap about pie safety! Nowhere in the 16 pages of this thread have we pointed out the potential hazards when eating a pie, so someone's done it for us. Obviously needs sound.
