Anyone have any ideas ? Mine got misaligned , or the cable became detached earlier in the year I believe during the bad storms we had, but want to get it sorted before winter sets it.

Also , what sort of price do I expect for a basic call out and repair?

I don't think they're based in Milford any more.

There's a bloke around the corner from me who does aerials etc too. Border Aerials.

If you’re up for it, get one that mounts in the loft and do away with the liability of an outdoor one entirely. The cable will likely be coming into the loft anyway so it’s an easy change

Easy to DIY or get an aerial guy or sparky on it

That reminds me, need mine taking down when the solar goes up as otherwise the birds will sit on it and crap on the panels!

i don't get that problem. but i have seen a house around the corner where the top of panels are almost level with the ridge and so the birds sit on the top of the panels instead of the ridge and crap all down the panels. Top row of them must but running at about 50% by now.
Mine are below the ridge so i don't seem to get that issue.

A technique that I have used with some success on garden benches, etc., is to stretch a piece of string or wire about an inch above the bit that would be standing on. It makes it very awkward to stand there.

If I remember rightly most Stafford aerials are on the Sutton Coldfield transmitter, which is a high one. I,m in a bungalow and have a couple of Tv aerials in the loft on the Callington transmitter, about the same distance. I use small head amplifiers on them, as close to the aerial as you can them, good strong signal at the receiver. No roof work involved, I do enough of that on the radio ham side.
Although I only use the terrestrial signal as backup and for teletext these days.

Cheers guys for your help , didn't know you could wack an aerial in the loft.

Got an outdoor 'one for all' aerial on clearance from Currys for like £18 , wired it all up and fixed it into the booster box , after a bit of trial and error, were all good again :p . The only thing I've noticed is the newest TV I have refuses to pick up all the channels, no biggie though, it's only a bedroom one , but did shock me that the older TVs have better tuners in them.

No idea which transmitted I'm using though.

I wonder if it might benefit from not having the boiler in front of it?

If you look at your neighbours' aerials and a map, it should be fairly evident if you're using Sutton Coldfield, as most of Stafford does, or the Wrekin, which is better in a few areas.

In the street , it's 50/50 split which way they point. But I just pointed it at the one that seems to get all the channels with no breakup.

Tbh , the boiler surprisingly doesn't make a difference , even when it's on. But then it's closer to the roof , you just can't see it from the angle of the picture.

A new Tv should have the ability to run a channel scan somewhere in the settings. This needs doing every few months as channels are subject to alteration.

Oops, just saw your pix .... ignore this post.

Cheers guys for your help , didn't know you could wack an aerial in the loft.

Some areas have covenants saying you have to mount it inside the loft. I worked in Milton Keynes for a short while and one of the guys who lived there said it was a nightmare. No satellite dishes, no aerials, cable TV was all coax not fibre and the telephone cables were aluminium. So no chance of getting broadband back then (2002).
