Bins!

Loads by me put theirs out a day early this week.

Must say I was nearly caught out last week for the first time ever. With going away for the weekend and not returning until monday, I kept thinking tuesday was Monday. Tuesday afternoon I was thinking "Why have the bloody idiots put their bins out on a Monday afternoon for wednesdays collection. ... So glad they were on the right day!

Our green bins are usually emptied late morning - afternoon, but were collected super early this morning. Luckily got mine and the full one from next door (they've just moved out) up to the top of the drive late last night. Think a few who normally take them out in the morning were caught out, going by how quick they did our road . (Had a bit of a panic when I heard them, thinking I'd slept in for most of the day  )

Hoping they continue coming early from now on...

Our blue ones were emptied Monday, when to collect ours afterwards, couldn't find it for love nor money. Eventually discovered it up near Jerningham St. Really hope they won't do that again.

I never did find my nice clean and shiny normal sized green bin which was nicked ages ago. Bin men swore it hadn't gone into the back of the lorry when I chased them down the road. Had heard a bin being wheeled along while I was putting my shoes on to go and get it in. (Unfortunately can't see it where it's collected from because of the neighbours monster conifers) Whoever nicked it must have been bloody quick to grab it and hide it out of view in their garden. Hasn't appeared since on collection days , so must be being used for storage by someone (Lots of our neighbours have numerous bins of all the assorted colours!)

Typically ours are emptied as follows:
Week 1: Green 07:15

Week 2: Brown 06:45
Blue 11:00

I assume, once the charges for brown bins come in, there'll be another restructure and everything will change again.

Originally our bins were always emptied street by street going either clockwise or anticlockwise around the estate.

Since this new firm has started doing it, they seem to be driving miles further , passing the end of our road backwards and forwards several times throughout the day. They have been doing a road, then missing a few out and going further around the estate, then coming back and doing another few odd roads here and there , then back across the estate again. The next road to ours can have theirs emptied first thing, then bypassing ours and it isn't done for another 4+ hours . Can't quite see the logic in their route planning!

(Think our postie must work the same way as the refuse guys. We never get the post until about 3pm or later , yet when I have a walk earlier in the mornings he's only a few streets away ..... )

It’s so they can get showered in time to see the northern soul torch relay which will apparently come from an area of New York and be carried through the streets in case anyone is feeling the cold
