The Shakespear just off New Street Station is good.

Though if you want something pretty awesome, but is a fair walk, NQ64 and Crazy Pedro's at the Custard Factory is pretty damn cool!

I'm not sure about quirky but my favourite is
the Hen and Chickens on Constitution Hill, Birmingham's equivalent of the Morris Man.

Or if your preference is Thai food and you don't mind a bit of a walk there's

This

But it’s a short taxi ride

If you know the surrounds

Re The Shakespeare, the better one is in Summer Row, really dirty chips. The one by the station can get a bit ‘dodge’

The Bull is quirky and the young landlady is beautiful. A walk , it’s near to the Children’s Hospital

The Cosy Club is in a good building - standard CC fare

The Warehouse in Allison St has a very good menu . Not a chain

Birmingham Museum tea room is quirky

Or Greggs, double up, take it to The Albion and do as the locals do

Yes, we've been there. Recommended.
I've been to Bennetts Hill many times, usually the Wellington but also the Briar Rose and the Cosy Club and I think the Sun on the Hill but never noticed that establishment.
Maybe I should try it although I'm not sure if "quirky flavours" are for me.

Head of Steam is a very decent pub if you don't just want to drink beer you find on a pump in every establishment too.

A shout out for Albert Schloss in redeveloped Chamberlain Square. German beer hall vibe, bench seating and live acts pretty much every day.

Post Office Vaults is a cracking pub with lots of real ales

NQ64 - think bar mixed with retro arcade games and consoles.

Yes, and the Post Office Vaults is very different from M&B's Royal Mail I first knew it as in the mid 1970s - and convenient for that quarter of an hour between trains at New Street.
However pubs are struggling to survive nowadays and last month I heard of the POV being "potentially in danger" weeks after the Woodman closed and soon after the White Swan closed but opened under new management.
Worrying times.
Use it or lose it. .

I've got a works do in Albert Schloss next week.

Although the beer is a bit pricey the food is good and the cabaret very entertaining.

The only downside was they wanted £10 a head deposit to reserve a table just for drinks which I told them to stuff. I can understand them doing this for food because they probably get wastage if people don't turn up but not for reserving a table for drinks only.

Was dead when I went in last Friday night.

Albert's Schloss is my favourite place in Birmingham, I'm partial to dancing on tables at midnight...
I hadn't heard of Albert's Schloss but I've looked it up and it appears to be continental European and so probably doing well with all the nostalgia for when we were in the EU, and it started in Newcastle on Tyne which voted Remain.
